Yes, when I first got it from Zoe Crist 14 years ago the etch was a lot darker. The years took the shine off, but the pattern in hand still impressive.

When you get a minute, put the blade in some strong community coffee for a few hours. It should darken out that etch again. Then just use bees wax or whatever you use to seal it in
