EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Got sick of looking at my ZT 0230. Decided to refinish the blade in a 320 grit finish and re sharpen it (Christ that wasn't fun or easy) brushed the hardware on the good ole bolt-lathe with some scotch brite.

I dig it... except the back spacer, need to do something about that.

Manix 2 LW in 15v. With Original Goat aluminum scales and riding on Skiff bearings. Using my favorite deep carry clip for Spyderco knives, the MXG Gear 102381 clip. Also installed the Flytanium aluminum cage, I find the factory cage jimping to not be aggressive enough. Would have loved to keep it all American parts but no one is making it. Ahem, Lynch/MXG/AWT!

Are you impressed with the OG scales/fitment for the Manix? I'm waiting for them to drop the next round to put on my 15v. And they have been taking FOREVER. I'm trying to decide if it's worth the wait.

they went together like a dream. i had just *slight* difficulty getting the D-shaped nuts into the scales, like the inside of the hole for them wasn't deburred enough. All I did was put them in through the inside, a very light tap and they went right in, and then just pulled them out and installed them the right way around. They fit nice and snug like they should. Centering is perfect. The backstrap fits nice and flush with the spine of the scales. Overall I definitely recommend them.

I went with the aluminum, if you go for the titanium and have the same suspected deburr issue with the hole for the d-shaped nuts, it might be more difficult to remedy. I would have liked the ti version but honestly they are more expensive than I was willing to spend, but the aluminum were positively affordable. And with a new customer discount, I think I paid around $130, and bare in mind the Skiff bearings are included at that price. So overall, for aluminum at least, I think they are a fantastic option for the Manix LW. These are the "shadow stoned" finish option, I think it might be different finish options for the ti scales.

The thing I was most concerned about was getting the aftermarket cage to work with the LW Manix *and* aftermarket scales. It says on the Flytainium product page that they are not compatible with the LW models. Seems like a mixed bag though when researching, some people it works for the LW, some people it doesnt, some have to mod the scales and/or cage to make it work. I measured a few dimensions prior to assembly and it all seemed to check out. I emailed ocd4edc where I bought it, and OG, and both said the same thing. OG even bought the parts themselves to test and they couldn't get it to work. But lo and behold, mine went together with no modifications required whatsoever. So another A+ from me on that. If you want some more aggressive jimping on the cage and a more premium feeling knife, the Flytainium aluminum cage kit from ocd4edc with their spring upgrade, worked perfectly for me. YMMV

Ok, thanks for all the info. I've already upgraded the ball cage bc I really don't like the plastic one. So I guess I'll find out when I find out if I'm going to get lucky or not.

I'm up in the air on the Al vs Ti. If they come out at the same time, I'll probably get the Ti but I'm not sure. I'm thinking about having them coat it, so I'll be trying out a lot of OG services all at once.

They've been saying these are coming out since late 2025, but they ran into some design problems and everything got slowed down to a crawl. Now I view it as a race between which will happen first - OG releasing these scales or Spyderco dropping the 15v Yojimbo.

haha I've been patiently waiting for the PM2 15v LW to drop. AWT has scales for it already. Then I'll have all the 15v pieces I want, Manix 2, PM2, and Native 5. I love 15v, Spyderco and BBB really nailed it. Such a bummer we won't be getting any more of it.

It seems to be a thing with OG that most of their products are just not available at any given moment, for whatever reason. And when you do get one available to order, it's another 4-6 weeks before you receive it. Just FYI. That being said, I'm happy with my purchase and experience. They made all of that clear during the sale, and they were very communicative during. I just emailed them pictures of the scales installed and told them about the cage experience and Cathy responded, on a Sunday, within five minutes. I think they are a small operation and I am happy to support them, the product is genuinely great. I'd love to get some of their Demko ti scales with the gunner grip, and the matching clip and everything, that setup looks super good. Like an oem OG/Demko collaboration exclusive or something. I wish they went that far with some of the other models they support.
