More digestible!!Correction: It made them beautiful. Haha
Very important indeed. Man must know his limitations!!His Arcolinea is slicing machine in the kitchen! I got mine secondhand, but it inspired me to commission 3 more kitchen focused blades with the same handle so I could have a matching set of knives!
Back to the present time again, after yesterday's retro-VT post, our friends @maxjeg and @timberweasel 's contributions this morning got me digging out my Al Mars both to identify their knives and to pick out one to carry this morning. I'd figured, wrongly I think, that Max's was the non-exclusive Eagle HD in AUS8 and G10, but closer inspection of his pic and one of my knives have me thinking it's a UL, like mine in linen Micarta and probably AUS8. (Mine's unmarked for steel.) As for timber's knife, that seems to be a Falcon Classic, maybe with cocobolo scales, after comparing it to the rivet pattern on my Falcon Talon in polished Micarta. I expect they'll let me know if I'm guessing wrong.
I feel really fortunate to have the five authentic Al Mars that I do--four "birds" and a SERE--and I'm thankful to @Barman1 and @woodysone for two of them. Mine are all Fadden-era examples which were still being made in Japan after Al's unfortunate demise and are high-quality pieces with old-school features. Anyway, I grabbed my ZDP-189 Eagle HD this morning and stuck it in pocket before heading out to the vet's for our cat's post-surgical follow-up visit.
Getting home I noticed the knife was kinda stiff opening/closing and did a little flushing out and pivot adjustment. I got a chance to use the new WIHA kit I picked up a while ago from an online tool seller I frequent. WIHA stuff is great quality but pricey and I'd had my eye on this little set for its variety and especially its mini ratchet handle and slip-collar extension and jumped on it when it showed up at half price.
