Any GB2 enjoyers might be interested in this bit, the show side liner has been flushed up against the scale, and the lockbar has been chamfered so it's not so bitey on my thumb. I think it's better than oem, I love the knife but hated the lockbar access. I know it was intentional, still not a fan. I might go even more aggressive on the show side, i would be happy with more ease of access, but this is definitely better than stock.

That's right.
Pistol Smith & Wesson Model 39 version Mk 22 Mod 0. 22 caliber with silencer. Manufactured by order of The United States Naval Special Warfare Command (USNSWC).

"Mk 22 "Hush Puppy"

A modified version of the Model 39 with a wider grip frame to accommodate a 14-round magazine was used by Naval Special Warfare units during the Vietnam War.[3] It was issued to officers-in-charge (OICs) of MST-2 detachments as their sidearm. SEAL Teams used either the Model 39 without modification or a modified version, the Mk 22 Mod 0, which was called the "Hush Puppy". The modified pistol had a suppressor with a slide lock (preventing the slide from moving backward upon firing, thereby decreasing produced noise). The Mk 22 Mod 0 had raised iron sights, to provide easier sighting over a bulky suppressor. The gun's purpose was to kill sentry dogs or guards without alarming the main target."

The double stack 39 was the S&W model 59 that came out in 1971.
 
Finishing up with the Vermont trip retrospective, the ride up had me carrying the same knife I'd pictured from the day before, working on saws here in the shop on Cape.

Friday the weather up north was drizzly, making for a perfect day to run some errands, starting out at the farm in the next town for some of their raw Jersey milk and homemade jam, then crossing the river for ethanol free gasoline for the Ranger, splitter, and mowers, and on to the grocers for some food supplies. I carried my 610 Rukus in the truck and about, which would otherwise be a great beefy woods knife, but I'm really kind of afraid of getting the clip snagged on something out there as it would be next to impossible to search out in all the leaf litter. I did get some pics of that one along with its companion 615 back around camp.
