That's only because there is zero lube. I put one measly drop of kpl on the detent of the dragon scale jurassic I bought at the table, and it went from the grittiest most embarrassingly poor action you've ever felt, to being drop shut. One tiny little drop, no exaggeration. that's not a commentary on how good kpl is, that just goes to show the importance of using *any* lube. you dont need some fancy knife lube, or even a bicycle chain lube, you can use whatever you have on hand. gear oil, motor oil, heck even olive oil if that's all you have nearby. just use SOMETHING. hinderer doesn't use anything from the factory, at least that's what ive found disassembling the two knives i bought at the table this year, and all the other new hinderers ive bought. which is crazy, all these non-hinderer fans come to the table and all talk about how bad they feel, like my friend that i introduced to shiro's who has never owned a hinderer. he had gripes about the design but he was really bothered by the fact that some of the knives at the table had good feeling action, and some were absolutely terrible. just put a single drop on the detent dudes, i shutter to think how many people are turned away simply because they can't be bothered to put a single drop of oil on the detent during initial assembly.
I think you missed the part where I said I had *several* QC issues with mines. There are plenty of horror stories about the trash that comes out of the ranch. Sure, there are some good ones too, but also some bad.
