My day before Halloween carry, as it sinks into all the global warming that piled up overnight (it was snowing so hard this morning that this was ten seconds after I set it down):

On the bright side I just read an article about a researcher that found surveyed polar bear populations are at an all time high, so there's that.

I picked up my first Reate-made knife on the Exchange, a Pena X-Series Rhino, and whoa mama. :D

I couldn't find many reviews, or even non-store photos, of the production Rhino, but on paper it sounded like it would be right up my alley. And it is! It's a compact powerhouse, absolutely impeccable in every way. It reminds of a ZT 0350 in some ways: similar form factor, recurve, blade length, "smallish but mighty" feel -- except the Rhino approaches every aspect of those commonalities from a different angle.

This is one of those knives that combines elements I don't usually favor -- speed holes, recurve, harpoon blade, kinda short and stout -- in a way that I find deeply compelling. What a dynamite knife. :)
