Yes, the wicked edge is not only fast, but it's extremely precise. You get those exact angles, where as by hand, you can be good, but you'll probably be off by a degree, maybe more or less depending on skills. That's the downside of paperwheels, mistakes can be made quickly and with short notice, and it obviously has a slightly higher risk for injury. I'm pretty proficient on my wheels, but I probably wouldn't sharpen someone's $100+ knife since it takes the blink of an eye to make a huge mistake. I wouldn't want to be responsible for a wonky edge lol.
I still want to experience the wicked edge though, and I'd like to have a huge variety of stones someday. But it's hard buying expensive sharpening equipment when I'm always wanting expensive knives
