Edge Photos

Yes, the wicked edge is not only fast, but it's extremely precise. You get those exact angles, where as by hand, you can be good, but you'll probably be off by a degree, maybe more or less depending on skills. That's the downside of paperwheels, mistakes can be made quickly and with short notice, and it obviously has a slightly higher risk for injury. I'm pretty proficient on my wheels, but I probably wouldn't sharpen someone's $100+ knife since it takes the blink of an eye to make a huge mistake. I wouldn't want to be responsible for a wonky edge lol.

I still want to experience the wicked edge though, and I'd like to have a huge variety of stones someday. But it's hard buying expensive sharpening equipment when I'm always wanting expensive knives:D

Hah, totally agree. Too many expensive knives. I've had a few Wicked Edge edges and they're very impressive, no doubt.

Your absolutely correct Zeta, a good set of DMT's will reprofile quickly, but as Blues also mentioned I do like the precision of the Wicked Edge.

And I know exactly what you mean Blues, it took a lot of will power to buy my Wicked Edge instead of an Umnumzaan or an XM-18.

In the end, everyone has an opinion and each method has its benefits. It's just important to realize that, so people don't get stuck believing that there is only one true way to sharpen a knife.

That was a big thing for me too.
I kept buying knives I HAD to have, while my sharpening system was subpar to say the least.
One day I looked at my collection, looked at my gatco diamond kit, and immediately went off to the edge pro website.
Now I'm in the market for the full set if aftermarket stones from chef knives to go.
After reading this thread last night, I broke out the EP on my ti51, and completely reprofiled, and mirror polished in no time. May my fingers rest in peace. ;)

Just touched my Insingo up again. Cleaned up a little of the roughness I felt at the shoulder. It's sharp!

The balsa has arrived!!! I'm stoked!!!
So I think I over did the green CrO, there seems to be too much on there. From what I've read, less is more when it comes to applying strop powder. I think the plank with FeO is ideal, I'll find the right formula after some trial and error. I'll be doing a lot of trial runs, I want to see if using white AlOx first will be necessary before stroping with CrO then FeO. So far, I've only gave my 0454 a run on the balsa, and it turned out pretty nice. My Seb needs a good sharpening session before I have at these. Our job site has cement dust all over everything at the moment, so cutting anything dulls the edge very fast.

I haven't spent enough quality time with my balsa yet, so time will tell how well these will work. I have no doubts though.

I know, it's not a CRK, but I only had time to do 1 knife last night.
Forgive me;)

A month into my last sharpening, still shaving. I have no qualms with S35VN, and quite like it but, I'm always impressed by DT SS damascus.

Here's some porn for Ya man! You know I couldn't resist a chance to show off that polish!! Umnumzaan Swedge Polish!!!

I have to say, I'm impressed with denim as a stropping medium. I made a couple of denim strops a little while back, and finally charged them, one with Ryobi white and one with Porter Cable green. The angle doesn't show it well, but the edge is lightly mirrored. Very impressive for how few strokes I made (8 on white, 15 on green). The denim seems more forgiving than leather...the nap seems to touch the apex of the edge, versus rounding it over as can happen with leather.
