Edge Porn

Mind sharing a pic of the whole blade? I'd like to see how that's wedge came out and what you think of it.

Sure thing.

Here's the blade

The swedge isn't exactly a swedge. More of a taper, because I didn't want to remove that much steel. There's the back. You can see where the "swedge" begins.

Here you can see it almost runs through to the tip. I chose not to do this, in order not to compromise the strength of the point.

All in all, the swedge I have is as much aesthetic as it is functional. It slightly increases ease of penetration into thick targets while retaining almost full point strength.

We're you asking my opinion of the knife itself or just the swedge?

The swedge mainly as I was thinking of doing something similar to mine. Looks good to me. Im thin.king of getting an espada xl when they come out with the stonewashed ones and doing the clip on that as well. Just dont wanna go up so high to get cut while its closed!

Nice deep bevel too.

Thanks :D I wish I had gotten the Rajah II in stonewash, but they didn't have those in stock and I couldn't wait any longer to have one.

I plan on getting two 5.5" Talwars soon :D

Well these aren't mind-blowing but they are my first victims on my Work Sharp KO. The RAT 1 and Blur were both dull beforehand and now they're hair-popping sharp, so far so good.

Is a belt sander required to get that kind of edge or can it be done manually? If so can someone post a link to a tutorial? Thanks!

I'd hate to try grinding a swedge by hand on stones, that'd take a while I think...

I use the grit wheel on my paper wheel setup - it's quick and pretty easy to do. I think a belt sander would be you best bet as it's difficult to grind a larger bevel IMO on the wheels. Maybe it's just me. :foot:
