Edge Pro Magnet Hack (L@@k Ma, No Hands!)

At 1:11 seconds into the video, the knife almost falls off the edge pro table. Then the guy says it is not 100% but good enough.

In my eyes, if something is not 100%, keep searching for better solutions.

My knife will pick up the edge pro and not let go, if it is not fastened to a table. That is the kind of extra help I am looking for.

The magnet by CKTG keeps your knife secure yet is easy enough to remove the knife from the table to flip to the other side. I couldn't imagine using a stronger magnet being that I'm always flipping the knife.

For ease of flipping, a KME Edge Pro Frankenstein monster is being built. lol

The magnets are to help you keep the knife still, not to replicate the hard drive wiping scene from Breaking Bad :roll eyes:

Having said that, I suppose if you were able to fit an electromagnet under there, you could switch it off for flipping.

I put a modification on the trunk of a Saville, years ago. Figured I had the only one. Then on CNN one day, I see a unrelated story with my car in Japan.

There is nothing new under the sun.

A little Google shows that this mod has been done and discussed multiple times across the different knife forums. An essential mod. Got my Neomag off Ebay I believe, I think it is the same as the one you pictured. One has been sufficient. Maybe another wouldn't hurt. Not more though, the pull can get too strong since on plenty knives you have to lay it evenly on a flat surface like the tang or flat of the blade to catch a consistent angle. Too much and you're forced to hold it in proper place anyway. Not to mention it would get annoying haveing to yank it off the EP between switching sides on those very last passes.

I have done this for years. I found really strong magnets at Crafts 2000 (brick and mortar store).

Good sharpening,
Dave

Late to the party, found this thread while researching magnets for the Edgepro.

I went with a NH52 Neo mag from K&J Magnetics order# BX038-N52, 1" x3/4" x 1/2". It's rated for 52 lbs. of attraction but that falls off to less than half when mounted under the Edgepro table. I had to remove a leg nut to get it in and then I secured it with some foam pieces to keep it from banging around, neo mags are brittle. Holds a 10" chefs knife, no problem, yet easy to move the knife around. Should have done it years ago.
