First post here in a while -- I used to post under a different name quite a few years ago. Anyway, I just wanted to post about my recent experience with Edge Pro, Inc. (http://www.edgeproinc.com). I've owned one of their Apex sharpeners for a number of years and while it always gets my knives scary sharp (and I mean SCARY!), I always managed to get little scratches on the blade perpendicular to the edge. I don't know why it took me so long, but I finally e-mailed Edge Pro about the issue. I wasn't sure what response I'd get, if any, but the next day, Ben Dale, the owner of the business, returned my e-mail with a detailed explanation of several ways to avoid the issue I was having. This is a business I'll be supporting from now on. The only negative thing I have to say about the Edge Pro is that it works so well my mother-in-law makes me sharpen all her kitchen knives. :D

:jerkit: Has nothing to do with this post, I just love this smiley, never seen it before :D

I love it too, first and only sharpener I've bought!
P.S. I got in trouble for using that smiley

While I feel it is vital to be able to sharpen freehand, something I need to work on, I have to agree that the EP is fantastic. I have sharpened blades from 2" to the Busse AK47 sword (in sections) with it. One of my best investments tool wise.

I just ordered an Edge Pro yesterday so, if possible, would you care to share the tips he provided so that I might avoid the scratches while I'm learning to use it? Thanks for any info that you might provide.

Blue tape is your friend, I put it on both sides of the blade before sharpening to avoid those fine marks

Yeah, I saw the blue painter's tape in the Edge Pro demo video. I use it for other stuff around the house so there's always a plentiful supply on hand. Thanks!
