Im not good at sharpening, even with a sharpmaker. How get your blade good can your blade with an edge pro system?

I'm not sure I understand your question, but Edge Pro is one of the easier to use systems. It is still stone-based, so the results would be comparable to other stone based systems, which is very sharp.

It can take some time for those who are not so well coordinated but after you get it then the results are great. I've owned or used just about all the systems out from the major players and IMO the Edgepro is the best. YMMV.

You can get knives extremely sharp with an Edge Pro, it's one of if not the best system on the market now.

Just curious, but why does everyone say the edgepro is the best and easiest?

My experience has shown me that the Lansky system makes it next to impossible to deviate from the correct angle, while the sharpmaker still requires one to maintain the blade in a straight down motion. While I acknowledge that this motion is pretty hard to deviate from,a person still could twist there wrist as they bring the knife down, while the Lansky secures the correct angle thru the use of a mechanical device. More of a auto/mechanical type vs. using the unsupported knife in your hand.

I could never sharpen a knife for Poo... until I got the lansky, now my T-2 Ranger can cut free hanging 550 cord with one swipe.

Nobody ever said it was the easiest. ;)

There is a learning curve, but once you get it down it's awesome.

Which Lansky system are you using? I looked them up on Amazon and they range from about $30 to over $60. I'm in the market for one, but have no idea what's best for a beginner sharpener like myself.

I am going to buy the EdgePro in a couple of weeks. Not the Apex but the Pro system as a complete kit with Case.
Yes it is serious dollars, spatially with shipping to Australia. I am estimating the cost to be around AUS $800,- as shipping cost alone are US $89,-.
After looking for quite some time on the Internet, I haven't seen anything coming close that would give me the kind of accuracy to set the angles and keep them consistent.
Yes it's a lot of money, but, having already emailed him and seeing his responses have shown excellent customer support.
It's also a system that should last a life time, so total cost of ownership over 20+ years makes it a good investment.

It sounds like you are comparing it to the Spyderco sharpmaker and not the edge pro which is being discussed?

I personally consider the Edge-Pro the best "system" available. There is a definite, but fairly short, learning curve, just like anything else.

As for the Lansky, well yes, it will work, and if you have the patience it can be made to work well.

But just as a bicycle will get you from one place to another, a Lambhorgini will get you there much faster and more comfortably. :p

This is the funniest sentence I've ever read in all my years on any forum

Use these systems as training wheels to learn to use bench stones.

An EdgePro can get any knife as sharp as its steel will allow, quickly and easily. It doesn't take a long time to learn to use it, but it does take some practice to use it well. There is no hand-powered system that is as accurate as the EdgePro although the Lansky, GATCO, and DMT Aligner systems do come close. But only close. :)
If you want the best, get an EdgePro.

I pondered for 3 months before deciding on the Wicked Edge, http://www.wickededgeusa.com/ and it is sooo easy to use. I have it permanently setup and can simply clamp in a knife, set it to factory or personal angle settings and away you go. There are very good You Tube videos too and the service is outstanding.
