I just got back from pounding Cobalts old 1-300 through three 8-10 inch diameter x 20-inch long hunks of weather hardened oak that had been sitting out in back of my girlfriends house for the past two years (she wanted kindling and I wanted to play
. errrrr with the knife). To make it a bit tougher the wood got rained on twice in the past two weeks so it was wet around the edges.
I beat the knife with an 18 inch long piece of 2x4 that I had chopped a handle section into. The oak didnt split right away so I had to whack the knife on the tip a lot to get it through.
And yes after making two boxes of kindling the knife did still take hair off my arm. It didnt seem to dull the edge much at all. When I got home I ran it on a strop and it is as sharp as ever in less than five min.
