Senator,

This is off topic, but are you in a position to pass on any details of the Rock-Lock? I'm sure lots of us would like to know more about it, especially given the success of EDI's first knife. Alternatively pehaps Will might care to respond if he happens to be passing by

.

Clay - I don't really have any earth-shattering news on the Rock-Lock. I had e-mailed Will asking if they had any plans to introduce a mini-Genesis. When he called me, he explained that the Genesis would not be miniaturized. He felt that some of the qualities that make the Genesis what it is would not necessarily translate well to a smaller version. They wanted to introduce a knife that was specifically designed to be smaller.

The Rock-Lock does have a new locking mechanism, although I can't offer a lot of details on it. He said that when they found suppliers that could guarantee the tolerances that EDI required (hopefully soon) they would begin production. I do know that due to the new locking mechanism, the clip will be on the butt end (tip-up carry). While I would prefer tip-down, I understand the reason - there's simply not enough room on the pivot end for the clip. Here's a picture of the knife:

Here's the Rock-Lock page at the EDI web site:

Hope this helps.

Bob, I havn't tried the pivot tightening as I thought that the bushing set the pivot tightness not the screw?

If this is not the case I will give it a go.

Bagman,
Re-read Tim Hick's 16 November post above...he too tightened the pivot torx and the wobble disappeared!

I have tightened the pivot screws as far as I can and the wobble has almost completely gone (as good as anyway) thanks for the info.

The best thing I like about this knife is the way it flicks open O SO EASY and what is even better Will Fennell said it was ok to do this to his knives when I questioned it as a method to get the liner to engage more fully onto the back of the blade.

I never knew about flicking open knives until I came across the other forum so my life has imeasurably fullfilled by the internet
