Edmund Davidson

David, I cant wait to get one. Ed told me about it and it sounds like hes pretty excited about it.

I love that intergral semi skinner. I would really love for him to mill me one of hotblued 01/L6 damascus and ivory or stag. Now that would be hot.

I found a mint Edmund Davidson Loveless integral hunter at a small Eugene knife show last year (for a very low price to boot), and I snatched it up immediately. Honestly, I would have bought it regardless of condition. It was the first one I had ever seen in person, and it is as nice as I had imagined one would be. The knife is a little smaller than I had thought from pictures, however. I'd love to get an integral camp knife now...

Thoughts: After 11 years with the untouched original edge (the creation date is engraved on the tang), it is still hair-popping sharp. The blade and edge grind symmetry is dead-on. Fit and finish is perfect. It feels comfortable in the hand. My impression of quality from the pictures was correct.

I agree that Mr. Davidson's products don't get the forum discussion time they deserve. I'd love to see more pictures like what ddd has posted.

That reminds me. Coop, would you be able to squeeze a Davidson integral into your client photography queue? :)

Of course. What a delight. When you are ready.

Thanks.

Edmund's table will be the first or second table that I will check out when the show opens. I hope I get there before they all sell (not sure if there is a feeding frenzy at Edmund's table when the show opens - I have seen it on some other makers' tables at other shows and if you get there 5 minutes after opening, everything is gone).

The other table is Wolfgang Loerchner's table and I just can't seem to make up my mind which table to hit first.

I've had the chance to meet Edmund a couple of times years ago (80's or so) at the Harrisonburg VA shows. His knives were very impressive in person. Should have bought one then!

I've had one of his pieces and sold it a while back, have only seen one other at the Chantilly VA show in recent years. I spoke with him last year to get info on the one of his that I was selling, he was very helpful and friendly.

He's a great guy and I'm glad to hear that he's getting on a computer some now. I know it's not his thing but I think it would help if he was out on the net more.

Thor, have a great time, I really feel withdrawls not making this show.

That chute should be a beauty.:)

My apologies for not getting this done sooner as I said I would. This drop point hunter by Edmund has been used quite a bit. Born on date of 10/11/94 and now owned by my son. It has a very nice tapered tang of D2 with red liners and a thickness of 5/32. Stays sharp a long time and really does a number on deer.

Here is a bunch of Edmund's recently made "Working Knives", dedicated
to specific uses and made for different clients. Full Integrals, of course.

Did anyone of you guys pick up one of Edmund's knives at the ECCKS?
I know they were all photographed and will eventually be displayed in
his book.

Here is my Davidson Loveless integral, shown through Coop's talented lenses. I wanted to mention that this knife was made for Bud Lang, the famous knife publications editor. I bought it from Bud, here in Eugene.

You know, I've realized that I cannot fully appreciate a fine knife until it has been professionally photographed....

I can see it fine now - on both posts. Gorgeous knife indeed. Thanks for sharing.

Yep. I picked up a nice stag-handled utility in S7. Probably his simplest full-size knife on the table, but I really like it. :D

I was smitten by his top piece, a green-handled knife with tons of engraving. Jere Davidson sure does a fabulous job on Edmund's knives (no relation). Being the top piece it also commanded top dollar.

This knife is interesting in a few aspects. It is thinner than it suggests from the sideview. Very sleek.

Notice the ends of the scales are treated differently in the joint: one end is rounded and scarfed in, and the other is a clean butt joint. Also it is a tapered 'tang'.

Thanks Jason for the opportunity to display this. (We couldn't decide which display we liked best, so we went with both!)

Congrats!
