Eh, screw it, I'll ask ya'll.......

I'm going to go with the 3. It's kind of the bastard stepson of the line up but it really is an outstanding blade in it's own right.

Especially since it's just a "get home" bag, having something there that is THAT trust worthy to get you home. It's the 2 but more functional.

If it doesn't HAVE to be a Becker, I'd say your M-18.

BK-5. Because it looks so freaking cool and cuts so freaking well.
:DAnd because it's my only one so far.

If i had the room id feel more comfortable with the 9. if space was an issue id take the 2. im not so concerned with the weight of either. the 11 is always on me so it be there as well.

But ill be mailing the perfect one for you sometime this week. :)

Personally I would go for the 3 in the event I needed to acquire something...

If I was to be in a rural area, I'd go for the 77.

I was thinking this too for urban/suburban environments. Only for rural, instead of a 77, I was thinking a BK-4: IMO, it's easiest to process wood with in gloves. more baton-able space, grip is angled to avoid clumsy baton strikes, etc. hopefully it fits in the bag :D

I assume you already have a 14/24 on you; if not, I'd pack one of those too!

The 9 was my first choice. Always is. There is a reason its The King.

The only draw back, is that I mount it on the outside of the bag. Easier to get to it.

I am down to the 9 or the 2 now. I just put my Fal'er micarta on the 2, and damn does it look good,

but that 9 just screams "Lets go kick some ass."

Hmmmmmmmm........

Tough call. Better sleep on it and see which one sneaks up on me and tries to kill me in my sleep. Thats how you know you've got the right one.

I think some of you are missing the "Cold Weather" part of the thread. In my opinion one of the larger blades would be best, I only said the BK9 because we all know it will chop like a mofo but it will also do just about everything you can ask of a knife, larg or small.

BK9 - you need a chopper for 'get home'. To back up the Mountain Knife which is already on your belt, of course. ;)
Or an Axe. I'm in love with axes recently.
Does Ka-bar have the facilities to make a traditional-style axe head? 'cause I think a 2lb BK&T-marked 1095CV axe head at about Rc-56 could be the shizzle.
Of course if 'get home' may involve hitchhiking, perhaps you don't want to be the guy on the side of the road with his thumb out and a short sword strapped to his leg.

Thats the downside with having it on the outside of the pack. My cold weathwr pack, usually goes with me everywhere, which these days is home to the plant. And back.

If I am heading to the woods (gawd I hope soon), I got a complete loadout ready to go, the tan bag in the pic, actually. I just change my outerwear to warmer and more shelter like.

I could conceal the 2 better, but it might not be very effective against cold weather zombies and such.

Damn, with over 200 knives, its gets hard to make a decision. Now that its down to 2, man, its even tougher.

I will have my 561, SAK Farmer, and BK24 on me as well......

Personally Id take the 17 and a small 1 lb Bahco hatchet that I have. That thing chops like no other and weighs less then 1.5 lbs all together including the sheath.

Actually, I agree with Cbear - the three is a pretty good choice here. It's so totally tool-not-knife, and with all the other actual knifey thing's you're likely to have on you a big knife is prolly a bit redundant.

I don't see where the 2 has any advantage over the 9. The 9 seems seriously more versatile. In fact, I'd go with the 10 over the 2. Might even choose the 16 over the 2. Perhaps if you anticipated chipping a lot of ice, the 2 would be a bit more durable. Otherwise, the 9 is the obvious choice.

Bee Kay two: it only does everything.

Keep a 9 in the vehicle and a 2 in your bag. Best of both worlds and no one at work will be tempted to kidnap the King.

I'd also have to say BK3 (tactical ice scraper) paired with a smaller knife like the 16 or a 14/24. Between the two you've got it all covered, you can chop, baton, break-and-enter, pry your way out of a vehicle, carve, slice, and generally mess things up. And yes, you can get the ice off your windshield :)

1. More pairs of vacuum packed socks . There is never enough of those .
2. 3 or 2 , whichever is considered more effective in opening a car from the outer or inner side .
