Elmax steel edge deformation?

I dont have any "scientific" test results to prove my point but to me, the ELMAX ZT uses on the 551 and 560 is a little on the soft side. I expected it to be roughly in the ballpark of my the CTS-XHP in my Millie and Para 2 sprints but found it to be no where near that good. I'm not saying that it isn't a good steel. I just wish it held an edge a little longer. The Hinderer ZTs in Elmax are cool as hell and I carry them because of that, not the outstanding edge retention. It's like a CRK, you know the steel is soft and holds an edge like a Gerber but it is such a sweet knife that you just dont care.

I can't relate to these reports of ZT elmax being soft.
I don't usually stab stuff, but i always have tough/hard materials to cut through and often have hard materials on the other side of whatever im cutting so the edge may also contact that.
No significant damage and the edge has retained its sharpness just as well as anything else.
I can't really compare it with my other "super steels" because i touch up my edges like i brush my teeth, but i would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a hard use folder.
ZT will take care of the duds.
