Greetings everyone!

I have a question about a specific Emerson custom knife. It's a cqc-12 but I have only seen one picture of this knife on the net. It's on steeladdiction.com under merson customs. It's already sold and under the pic it says waved cqc-12.

I was wondering if anyone knew where to get this knife.

Thanks.

ernie doesnt take custom orders anymore. you can go to a knife show and try for the auction, or order the production version, which is very similar.

or do a little searching on the net, you may find one. also post a thread in the want to buy section here.

yeah i would just get a production all ti or the ti/G10 combo (i have one of the ti/G10 ones and love it FWIW).

IIRC ernie only made ~5 of the all ti '12's and doesnt plan to make any more any time soon.

if ya must have the custom ya can probably find one, it wont be cheap though, probably ~$1000 or so. IIRC i saw one around x-mas that had just been purchased from the EKI site (ernie did 2 '12s and 2 HD7s and sold them on his site for x-mas) and it sold for ~$1000, maybe $1200.

Thank you all for the feedback and info. I was thinking of getting the TiHD version but then this one caught my eye. Do you think Ernest will make more customs like this for special occassions (like Christmas)?

Thanks

Also, if I could buy both knives what would you recommend (the custom one or the all Ti version)?

buy both means you don't have to choose??

but if you meant one or the other, I would strongly recommend getting the bolstered version. The ti version may be nice and stronger, as it is a framelock, but custom Emersons just have to be bolstered, IMO....

Aye Aye!...I agree...but i think they have to be waved too..=)

Cheers,
Nick

waved....hmmm....I'm not sure. sometimes the wave gets in the way...I don't always like to wave the knife out.

on the website at x-mas ernie said if ya want an all ti specwar here is your chance as he wasnt gonna be working with ti anymore anytime soon, so i would say thats gonna be it for a while.

FWIW neither one is bolstered but both are waved. do agree the bolstered specwars with green micarta are the best looking ones, my '6 is exactly like that, not waved though. but no version of the '12 has bolsters, custom '13s do though, but not the same animal.

the all ti production is nice but i wouldnt pay a really big premium for it unless it was something to collect vs use, the ti/G10 version works just fine, in fact right now the ti/G10 '12 is my edc and i have 2 specwars, a '8 and '6, and a ECA P-tac too.

in other words the ti/G10 CQC12 works great as a edc imho.

I forgot to say that I am looking for a knife for hard use. I'm not a collectionar and I certainly like quality better than aestethics so I guess the Ti version is the best though I agree that Micarta scaled one is the best looking model. I also like that place for the thumb on the handle. Why don't all the models have that?? Thanks for all the help! :)

Is 875$ too steep for the all Ti version? Know any places where I can get it for less?

One more question, are EDC knives MIB??

Thx

Mint in box :)

I wanted to write NIB - mistake. I didn't want to edit it and correct it cos' it sounds good too :) :)

just depends on how bad ya want one, ernie sold them for $500 IIRC.

if i wanted one that wouldnt be too bad a price for me anyway,

no, i dont think he will modify them after purchase, i suppose ya could get another smith to do it but i am pretty leery of letting someone else work on a knife worth way in excess of $1K, i just wont do it, was thinking of putting bolsters on my '8, emerson wouldnt do it, i found several others who could, and did nice work too, but i just couldnt do that.

I just ordered an all titanium cqc 12 from them on Friday. Said it was the last one and had been sitting in the vault. Also told me Mr. Emerson would be making no more.
