does it say emerson knives inc or emerson specwar knives on the logo?
EKI is production and ESW is custom,
Will it always say "specwar" on a custom?
About the only way to get one is to watch the for sale forums or be at a show to either win one if you are lucky or get one soon afterwards from someone that did win it.
There is a web site where you can see Emersons for sale. The Emerson Custom report but I don't have the link.

p.s: how much did u pay for your all-ti 12? that might be a good indicator if it's production, or custom.
Cheers,
Nick
That is a question that I will not know the answer to until I receive it on Thursday. I will let you know. You have me interested.
I checked a couple of mine:
cqc 11 = emerson knives inc., usa, 2005
specwar b = emerson knives inc., usa, 2001
19-eleven = emerson, 2005, collectors association, s/n 019
the 19-eleven does not say specwar, does that mean it is not a custom? They called it a semi custom as well, I think.
Looking for clarification.
I know that my normal emersons are not custom, but is the marking on the blade the only way to tell? Will it always say "specwar" on a custom?
Thanks!
I will let you know what is marked when it comes in the mail. Might post a pic if it will let me without being a paying member.
By the way, the only thing that makes me think it is a custom, or at least semi custom is that emerson told me all of the all titanium handle 12s had to have the handles hand fitted to the blade. I just buy lots of knives, but am no expert. I know I could just call and ask emerson, but its more interesting this way.
Kevin
the 19-11 is not a custom.
semi customs use hand ground blades, IIRC sometimes by ernie BUT not always (ie the ECA series) and production handles which are hand fitted, the customs are hand ground by ernie and hand made & fitted handles.
semi's run ~$500 or so, customs run ~$1K (& up, way up) unless ya can find a deal or buy one from ernie. i seriously doubt anyone could just call EKI and buy a custom anything, he is 10 yrs behind FWIW. if so i am pissed 'cuz i have been waiting a looong time now lol.
most customs do say specwar, at least the later models, the older ones have several different logos, but we are talking pre -'98 or so IIRC.
do not be pissed. that is what I have been trying to say since the beggining. SEMI CUSTOM. They did tell me that the 19-eleven was also a semi custom for what it is worth.
You guys got me wondering if I got lucky. It is a semi custom, so do not be mad. It makes me happy.
Good luck.
i'm just BSing, not mad lol.
if ya got an all ti '12 for less than $400 or so ya did well imho.
FWIW if i woulda known they had an all ti '12, i would have bought it ............
oh yeah, great folks to deal with, i have talked to ernie once and mary his wife a few times, i think its mary anyway lol,
so didja pay retail on it??

Fuck it, I wanted to buy the all Ti on steeladdiction.com. Found it a month ago there. Well, doesn't really matternowBy the way, it has the Specwar Logo without the date I think.
I think so.....
Although that is alot of money to me, I am not worried about it. I am not gonna send it back...
I have wanted this knife since I first saw it. My tax return is taking care of this one anyhow (I got used to not having the money)
I always like the feeling of security I get ordering directly from Emerson also.
