Emerson Liner lock problem list

There is a recurrant rumor about a certain Irish woman, wife to a moderator of this forum, who wore out a lock on a CQC7. I have had no confirmation of this fact, however.

No probs here - Commander still locks up tight, with a good "click" when I disengage it...

I have never seen a knife lock that has not failed.

Try a HALOIII. Plunge lock that doesn't fail once opened. MT has pounded this knife into a 55 gal drum and the lock held. Of course, even if it did fail the knife would retract into the handle. This is a true "hard use" knife that you can depend on in a pinch.

Liner locks are the weakest lock out there. Have one fail on you and you'll agree. They can pass all the test one moment then fail w/o warning. They belong on apple peelers not fighters.......and believe it or not others agree with me on this.

Again, good for you on getting a good one. That's how EVERY SINGLE ONE should leave the factory....perfect, w/o a single flaw especially w/ the lock. After all, this is a $150 knife. How's the overall quality of yours compared to a MT Socom Elite, which is in the same price range?

Ohhhhh now I know why it failed on me because
of my partial Irish decent!

Sad to say, I have had QC problems with Emerson knives. I've had Commanders and SOCFKs rub their liners out of the box. I have three CQC7's where in a matter of six months, the liner lock has migrated too far to the right for me to feel comfortable using them. The OD green on my waved-7 handles is turning splotchy and mottled.

Having said that, I love Emerson's designs. But, until this QC is ironed out, I won't be buying anymore.

As someone who has bitched about the quality of my Commander, I think it's only fair to mention (again) that I have had no problem with lock-up or blade play.

mr44, I had the dealer who sold me my Commander "inspect" it, and still got one with poor fit/finish. Handled one in a store recently that appeared to be perfect. I would not hesitate to buy that one, and think that handling one before purchasing is your best bet. Repeated Wave and snap openings haven't hurt the lockup on my Commander. Liner on mine locked up dead center on arrival, locks up dead center after several hundred Wave openings. One I looked at at the dealer locked up far left edge of the tang. Wish I'd gotten that one

Actually, as I recall (there had been a fair amount of wine consumed) the moderator in question referred to his better half as a 'flicking Irish woman.' I could be wrong on the first word of this phrase, but doubt it, as Derek is a gentlemen, their daughter Korene was present, and most importantly, Derek is still alive.

Thus, flicking, rather than an Irish heritage could have been the main contributing factor. I still await Derek, er, ah I mean, the Moderator's response to this post.

Commander complaints aren't new, I've heard stuff about both the EKI and BM CQC-7's and the occasional Raven complaint in the last 3-4 years. Then there's the famous "how do I sharpen the Commander" yearly posts.

If I were to buy a Commander, I'd probably get the 2000 version. Even then, I'd check the lock. I personally like 440V, VG-10 etc plain blades but then again I don't own a Sharpmaker (have a Spyderco Double Stuff, more portable).

Oh, having a Rearic moment, excuse me.
What if the Wave was used like a guard? Is the Al Mar Wortac a better stabber than the
Commander? What would Vladimir Vasiliev do?

Okay, I'm done, we now return you "Night of the Returning Usual Suspects".

There have been many dicks (I have been one from time to time, it's OK) and there have been many Trolls...I have never been one of them...

But to be a Troll's Penis must suck righteously.

This sort of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder when applied to this medium points to a severe erection (hard enough to cut diamonds apparently

) out of all proportion to the anatomy of the Poster in question.

Not going to buy one, doesn't like Emerson Knives, just wants to come on over and cry...

Ha ha Don, your very funny....just how old are you? Anyway, you're a moderator....and you can honestly post that last crap. This just shows there's no dealing with you.....you haven't a clue and you should be removed as a moderator.

I'm going to forward this last crap to Mike Turber and see what he thinks about your actions. I have been civil with my posts and never once made personal attacks on any of you. Why would my talking about the quality of these knives bother you? The truth can sting. Damn right I am soliciting this link to other forums. Scared you may get a lot of posts condemning the quality of theses knives? That's what I get from your last post. If there isn't a quality problem, this will show itself with others opinions. If there is, this will show itself as well.

You can goat me all you want, I will not make any personal attacks........that's just plain childish.

THANKS! I aim to please. "You're" typo typo!

just how old are you?

33 next August.

Anyway, your a moderator....

"You're" that was a typographical error on your part and I think you are very observant indeed in seeing that when I post it clearly states, "BFC Moderator." Can't get anything past you!

and you can honestly post that last crap.

I think you might be referring to use of the word "dick." Well, since "crap" is slang for "sh*t," aren't you also in violation? Perhaps I should have said, "Richard Cranium." Seems more fitting...

This just shows there's no dealing with you.....

Sure there is, I actually have a rather good sense of humor, something that in your wallowing in hatred for Emerson Knives, you seem to have lost.

you haven't a clue

I have plenty of clues JC...trust me.

and you should be removed as a moderator.

Is that because what I say to you hurts so badly? You think if you were to somehow magically make me disappear that people would cut you some slack?

You went to The General Forum of BFC and blew a trumpet for people to merely come into this Forum and hassle Emerson. Correct? That is trolling...another thing that points to trolling is the fact that you have stated you want a "Commander" style knife from someone else, not Emerson.

Have you nothing better to do with your time then to post nonsense and critiques of things that you hate and would never own under the guise of "saving someone their fingers?" Give me a break...

As for having me removed as a Moderator should it so be the desire of BFC to agree with you, do you think I get paid to do this?

Get in the long Conga Line of people who have trolled and been stung by my keyboard that would like to see me removed as a Moderator...personally, if you did in the JSP Forum what you are doing in this Forum, I would lobby for YOUR removal. Be my guest...it won't hurt my feelings.

I'm going to forward this last crap to Mike Turber

Mike has a pretty good sense of humor for the most part, I can only pray that he has had his coffee this morning and won't beat me too hard...

and see what he thinks about your actions.

And what if he were to tell you that you are being foolish devoting so much time, i.e., having a big piece of wood in your pants, about knives you don't like and would never own?

I have been civil with my posts and never once made personal attacks on any of you.

You obviously have a blue meanie in your drawers over the Commander, and possibly over several other Emerson Knives, that is now somehow a personal attack?

I performed a search function of this forum an input "jc," case sensitive in the poster's field...you are merely over here to criticize a product you don't want to buy ANYWAY! Hahahahahaha...

If there was a Frost Cutlery Forum at BFC, I would not waste my time typing out things to put in it. **HINT** If you do not like what is presented here, why waste your time?

Why would my talking about the quality of these knives bother you?

The quality of my Emersons are acceptable. Apparently there have been some QC issues in the past. This is apparently being perpetuated by old dealer stock that is already out there in the market.

There is a Benchmade Thread running in our General Forum at the moment, go Crusade at Benchmade for awhile.

Or, you can find some terrific threads in the MT Forum at KFC that might interest someone with your passion for "QC JUSTICE!"

The truth can sting.

That is true. It is sad to see a QC issue with regard to Emersons, and it should be corrected. You don't make many friends doing it the way you are doing it, however, especially since you would never own one now. right?

You can goat me all you want

Are you sure you do not mean "goad?"

I will not make any personal attacks...

You can, you can say I have an erection FOR Emerson Knives, as long as you get it right, for WAVED Emersons...

that's just plain childish.

No, childish is visiting this Forum many times a day just to defecate with a computer in what is essentially a nice little forum.

And anyone that does a search of your posts over the last week taken in tandem with your post in The General Forum, trolling for support to FLOOD this FORUM with COMPLAINTS, that is childish defecation with a keyboard.
