Just since last week I have become pretty well obsessed with Emerson knives. Because of the designs, the company, history, and the man behind them. I've already bought 3, none of which have arrived yet. None the less I'm already trying to figure out which one to get next. So far I've ordered a Super CQC-8, an Bulldog, and a Commander. Leaning toward either one of the CQC-7 variants, a CQC-15, or a Gentleman Jim.

Pic to come, but I own myself a vintage Commander, Horseman, Combat and Super Karambit, Persian, mini 15, CQC-7A and B, SOCFK-B, and now looking for 13 to add to the family.

Welcome! I agree with Ray and say you should get one of the CQC-7 variants. My favorite CQC-7 I own is a waveless 7B with a satin finish, it's a classic Tanto design with excellent ergos.

That was my first thought was the CQC-7. But I definitely want the wave. To me it's part of what really makes an Emerson an Emerson. But it seems the CQC-7 is really the start all end all of Emerson's. The one that no collection is complete without it. Plus the general consensus of being an amazing all around utility/EDC/combat knife. Just out of personal preference though all of them are plane edge.

That's a he'll of a collection Ttran! I'm not big on small knives (no pun intended). But I'll probably end up getting some mini's just for dressing up and because they're Emerson's, haha You ever feel like sellin any of me you let me know.

Ha, you're crazier than I am.

Tip on the minis, if you wear a size 7.5 glove or smaller, the mini version would suit you ideally.

Lol If I'm wearing tight driving gloves I'm an 8.5. Work gloves I'm a 9. I don't have terribly large hands, but larg enough that I favor big folders and haven't had any trouble with them so far.

We'll find out which one fits better the Comander or Super CQC-8. But hell, even if the small is too small and the UBR Commander is too big, ain't gonna stop me from getting them and enjoying them just the same.

Ttran778 or anyone else. I don't suppose you know how many dollars you get off a purchase for how many points you have on the Emerson website?

All of mine I acquired through second-hand buys or trades, so I unfortunately couldn't tell you :(

Well I just started my Emerson collection on the first of the month. And for the three mentioned above in the original post (all new) I paid $565. Even with the points, from the website it would have been WELL more than that.

The great thing about getting an Emerson, is that unlike some other names out there (none mentioned out of respect) an Emerson will hold its value fairly well.

Hell, in 20 years that Super CQC-8 will be worth something (not that it will last that long). A lot of others will just be a forgotten memory.

Get a commander I promise you'll love it! if not i'll take it off your hands! lol

I already did, that one ships with the bulldog tomorrow! Only question is weather to get the Super or the UBR next, haha Just bought a ZT 0300BW last night. Can't wait to compare it and the Emersons!
