Emerson Obsession!

Haha I know what you mean. I don't know weather to hold out a couple weeks and just drop like $2,000 on all the ones I want at once or pick them up as I go. Only trouble is deciding which one to get next, haha

Problem is you will spend the money to get the ones you want and they will release new ones that you will want. It's never ending.

Then I'll just have to get those too! Shit, when it comes to Emerson's, the more designs he puts out the better far as I'm concerned.

I am obsessed with my Emerson, and I love my Benchmades. I often can't decide which to carry. I honestly prefer 154 CM over any steel. It is sharp, tough, and easy to resharpen (for me). I wish Benchmade made bigger knives like an emerson commander or patriot in 154 cm. And I love the emerson designs. The one thing I truly dislike about Emerson, the only thing, is the liner lock. I just have NEVER been a fan of liner locks. If Benchmade and Emerson ever made a nice collaboration of say a commander with an axis lock, I will buy every single one I can. lol

I think Emerson knives are a good investment, too. Go nutz!
45- Get an Emerson framelock.

There are certain Benchmades I like, but I think MOST Benchmades are more flash than function if you know what I mean. What is it that you dislike about liner locks? A lot of people say they are flimsy, but I've seen tests done on regular stainless liners that would blow your mind. Let alone the Ti liners that Emerson uses.

they are great, but for the price i wouldn't be able to justify it. I'll just keep buying current models and wish for a benchmade collaboration lol.

It is just that, the flimsy feel. I am not a fan boy die hard from either company. I love both equally. I love the benchmade contego but wish it came in 154 CM. I love the benched 520 presidio (i have one in black and stone wash) in 154 with aluminum grips which is an amazing blade. But I wish it was a bit bigger like a commander size. I LOVE my commander, but which it was an axis lock. I'll just continue using them and interchanging daily carry I guess. Or carry both if I ever manage to figure out a way to do that. I carry my knives for self defense though. I have a swiss army multi tool for basic tasks.

I don't know,mi like carrying multiple knives. Once I get all the new knives in I'll probably end up carrying one of the Emerson's in my pocket and the ZT 0300BW in my boot. And I'll end up rotating them every once in a while.

Super CQC-8 came in the mail today! Only one problem... When I use the wave or flick it open it locks up so tight I have to use a screwdriver to push the lock. Anyone have any fixes for this???

Yes, use pencil lead (graphite) on the blade's engagement surface. Some prefer sharpie marker. That, and use.

Thanks, imma do that right now! It's not that it's sticky, it's the fact that the locking bar is engaging almost to the other side of the frame... But just from playing with it the last 20 min. it is loosening up quite a bit. I think most of it is just those factory fresh edges. SUPER stoked with the knife over all though! I did grossly underestimate the size... But it fits my hand well and still feels great in the pocket.

Yeah... Still sticky as a mofo. Not sure if I should just wait it out (which my thumb is not to excited about) or send it in for warranty. This thing is locking up like no knife I have ever seen, haha

Thanks to SEVERAL guys on here I got it all straightened out. Just going to take a couple hours of opening and closing it to get it worked in, lol And there is absolutely no blade play. Other than the stickiest lock I have ever encountered this knife is so solos I would have no qualms batoning and choping wood with it. Feels great in the pocket and AMAZING in the hand. Can't wait to get the regular sized one too.

To think I couldn't love my Emerson more!

Story:
Tonight I wanted to test a sharpening theory on my shitty bench stone I have, only one I have. Long story short, it dulled the hell out of my emerson and due to the recurve I was unable to sharpen my Commander properly... Frustrated me so much I ended up ordering a spyderco sharp maker to better sharpen the recurve.

Well I was beyond pissed that I dulled my new knife completely, and that I couldn't sharpen it again. So what did I do? Well, went back to studying for my final tomorrow. But mid studying I remembered that these knives are meant to be sharpened on anything in the field.

So I got creative and grabbed a ceramic coffee mug, and using the rim on the base of the mug managed to get my knife back to shaving sharp with some patience and creativity.

Shaving sharp aye? I'm about to find out! Anyone know why the Emerson website says not to use power sharpeners? I know I could get this thing SCARY SHARP with my worksharp belt sharpener...
