Emerson tiger

Beautiful knife. Not my fav emerson but I can see why people like it.

Bearings or no?

I actually prefer the backspacer and washers on older model emersons. The bearings run on paper thin metal support washers I am scares will have races dished into them with use. So far hasn’t happened on my 7flipper, but maybe don’t crank the pivot too tight.
Bushings
This is my second Tiger I have in my collection I like them that much .
Pretty much my favorite all around Emerson.

As cool as the bearings are I think the washers overall suits an Emerson knife better. Unless it is a flipper maybe. Cqc7flipper is a disaster as gripping the knife causes the meat of your finger to bump the lock.

The Tiger is a great design. I love the way it looks, just not my taste for use.

It official The knife is mine now .
I just sliced my thumb wide open and it’s deep . Embarrassingly but true I was admiring the blade and think I barely ran my thumb on the side of the blade and she bit me good .
I’ll spare everyone of the pics lol .
Yup she’s sharp and she’s mine now :D

I really liked Mr. Emerson's knives since back in the "Rogue Warrior" days. I wanted a 6 so badly I could taste it. Never happened and truthfully just gave up on the pursuit of one. These days though, I just can't see paying $250..+ for 154 and thin liner locks even with the wave feature its just too much for too little. I love the ergonomic handles and some of the blade shapes but I just can't get past the price. Not trying to start a pissing contest just sharing my opinion is all. Good night folks.

Congrats.. She's a beauty. I cut myself twice last week the day my Commander arrived.

These Emerson’s sure are sharp out of the box and last night was a reminder lol. Yeah haven’t got bit in a while by a blade and boy did I make up for lost time !!

Don’t let the size of the liners fool you there rock solid . As far as worth the price everyone has there own value and opinion and there’s nothing wrong with your thoughts as everyone has different thoughts on value and what a knife is worth to them .
Myself I feel a Emerson is worth every penny
Are there knives out there with a better value ? Absolutely

I'm heading back to the store, going to have to buy the one I handled as it might be a unicorn.
I would if I were you as it might be the only one in Existence
Post some pics of that bad boy when you get her home !
Edit : Then I would call Emerson to find out the story behind its existence . Could of been a error in The assembly line .

Was there today and it sold. Salesman was quite sure it had a bearing pivot, and was shocked when I told him I knew of some people who just received Tigers on washers.
Interesting, I think he should of been more shocked the one he had was on bearings lol since it appears to be the only one in existence .

Well, since it was the only one they had handled they must have assumed that was the way these were being built. There were actually two or three salesmen that all were quite certain it had bearings, and they have about a dozen other brand new Emersons in the display counter, about half of which were new logo specimens. The new logo 7 was extremely smooth and very "light" action, but not "fall shut" quickly and authoritatively like the Tiger.

Definitely a mystery, and I'd have a hard time believing anyone who told the story I have reported. What I can tell you is I have a LOT of Emerson experience, particularly with Tigers, both single and dual detent, coated and uncoated, (having owned uncoated single detent, coated single detent & coated dual detent simultaneously), and there is no doubt in my mind the single detent uncoated Tiger I held in the store was a bearing pivot.

I’d definitely be on there call list for there next shipment . If anything it would be just to see the expressions on there faces when there all bushings like the rest of Emerson’s inventory of tigers ;)

Partner, they very well and very likely may be. But I would bet you my last dollar the one I held was running a bearing pivot. Positively.

edit to add: One of my hard-fast rules is I only gamble when there is a way I can cheat. ;)

Can’t be an error. The bearings vs washer knives are built differently beyond just swapping bearings for washers.

Quite well aware of that, I have owned and modded Emerson's with bearings. From what I could see on the assembled knife there had to be the customary counter-bore's in the blade and scales, but somehow it was still different from the Flipper7 and other's I've had. I'm as puzzled as you guys, even more so in fact, as I held it in my hands. I am dead certain it was on bearings of some kind.
