Ive had one failed round out of my Glock 22 and it just happened to be during my CHL test. It just fizzled. I cleared it and got a spare from my pocket and managed to get it off as the target was turning away and got 10mm outside the line which didnt count so I scored 249 out of 250 points. It never failed me again. Like you said. They aint the prettiest but they are reliable. I now have a Glock 30 and dont like it as much as my G22. More expensive to shoot also. Two failures to feed. Both funky rounds. Kinda sold me on Glocks as working guns, though aesthetically they don't do much for me.
don't like 9mm or .40 , there are only two viable rounds in the world the .308 and the .45( obv for rifles and pistols) but I really am with bawanna on this, 45 is best mainly because no matter where you shoot someone it will put them into shock.( allegedly from the tales of my vietnam old man)
I have been carrying the Glock pistol since 1991, we carried the model 21 45cal, I cant tell you how many rounds went through my first one but I carried that pistol for 13 years between patrol and entry team training. When we purchased newer ones I retired the old and and took a new one simply for the light rail on the frame. I actually still have my old pistol and use it regularly. Just as JW said they are not pretty but boy are they functional. When you carry something that your life depends on, it has to work every single time no matter what and I can attest to the Glock on that line. I am a big fan of the 1911 as well, I have a sweet custom Gold Cup and it shoots like a dream. I am not a fan of the .40, I have seen many failures of the gun itself, the round pounds the gun to death and without getting all technical the.40 has more chamber pressure than all the standard pistol rounds. Give me a 9 or a 45 and im set. The last few years of work I carried my 18 and 36 mostly.
