I don't know that 'need; is the sole motivation here. Carrying a handgun concealed does not mean that you are looking for a gunfight, just that you want to be prepared. I try to be prepared for as many possible situations as possible, more so when I am out with my g/f and her daughter. There is a lot of violent crime down here, and I plan on doing everything possible to make sure that none of it happens to them or me. I routinely keep weapons, flashlights, food, water, money, cellphones, spare clothes, first aid kit, gunshot/severe trama kit, etc handy. I hope to never need any of them, but they sure are comforting to have in case I do.
Sorry, don't have an edc pic at the moment, but here is my 'in my pockets' list:
- Spyderco Stretch, plain edge
- Victorinox Cybertool or Yeoman
- Queen D2 Large Canoe with cocobola scales
- Peak Matterhorn light with 3 white hi-power leds
- Some sort of larger LED light, normally either a custom 3-watt Surefire L1, a custom E1e modded with a Q3J/Madmax Plus or a E2e with a t-rank R/O 1 Watt direct driven by a single 123 and a spacer.
- A couple of different colored photons on keyrings (two keyrings with vehicle and house keys seperate and a spare key for my truck).
- Cellphone and Blackberry
- Normally either a S&W 642 or Glock 26, with reloads.
- Fox Pro OC spray
- Large cotton bandanna
