ENDURA with G-10 scales. It's time Spyderco

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, I personally like those handles, online at least. I would like to find a G10 FFG Endura, but it is not my grail knife.

Does anyone know what the Endura would weigh with G-10 scales? A great blade design with a great solid lock if it had an extra 3/4 ounce from the G-10 I would say it might be as good as any folder made any where.

Jimnolimit mentioned the CaraCara2 in G-10 . . . I actually have one on the way (with a green Ladybug3) to go along with my other Byrds (Robin and Meadowlark), all with G-10 scales. If my new knife is as nice as the other two, I will be very happy. I have the same knives in FRN and they feel light, but that texture has its own ergos. The G-10 models are thicker, have a nice heft and look classy without paying a lot of money. The handles are also on a par with the Tenacious series of value folders, at least the ones I have. While I have more expensive Spyders, sometimes I get to feeling a little cheap (or is it 'cheep'? lol).

The G10 scales change the grip of the knife, can be good or bad. I had an endura with FRN before and i hated the grip, i though it was too big, that's kind of weird because i love the Military grip which is large as well, but it has better ergonomics than the endura i think. Anyways, i might like the way G10 handles would change the grip on the endura, just i'd prefer a different color than the foliage green.

As far as the G10 delica is concerned i abhor it. When i had one briefly i was completely underwhelmed by the grip of the knife, it felt way smaller in my hand and cramped compared to a FRN delica which i love. It's not the thinness that bothered me, i like thin knives, it just seemed like the length of the handle shortened with the G10, maybe it didn't but it just didn't work out for me. On the endura though i think it would work out fine, since i didn't the FRN endura handle to begin with, the opposite of the delica.

I "played" Marine for 20+ years and love the earth tones including FG, Tan, Coyote, etc... I had an orange Millie and while it was a good knife the scales get dirty looking at them. I have a yeller mini-grip but it will soon sport some custom CF scales. It's all good but words like "Hate", "Loathe" and "Abhor" are kind of strong for our hobby. There is plenty for the choosing so why would someone get something they didn't like the looks of?

You're right, words like hate, loath and abhor and the like are too strong. I should just say dislike and leave it at that. I am grateful for all the options that are out there. Looks can be deceiving though, that's the trouble with buying on the internet, you can't get a feel for a knife until it's in your hands, might look comfortable but turn out otherwise, in that case it's good to have the forums to sell or trade and pass it on to someone who might enjoy it more.

Yep, it's not hard to unload a knife with an audience this size. I had a T-Mag that never saw sunlight but someone was thrilled to death to get one in a trade. Something for everyone!

I remember how excited everyone was when they finally announced the G10 delicas and enduras. Figured it would be a model that would never get discontinued but it never got the constant praise I excepted. Its an awesome knife. Id love one in the Gray G10.

the G10 endura is listed on spyderco's website as being 4.5oz, but that might be with solid liners. my endura 4 ZDP (FRN handle) has drilled liners.

the byrd cara cara 2 G10 is listed as 4.25oz. i just put mine on the scale and it came in at 4.29oz.

I liked the G10 Endura. The color was fine and didn't put me off. The price did however. It had a great feel in the hand and might have been heavier than some want in a VG10 lockback. Personally I had limited funds and for a little bit more there were other knives with ZDP and higher performance. That's what sealed the deal with me, not any problems with the G10 Endura itself.

Am I the only one that actually likes the green color?

I really like Spyderco's FRN handles. Especially after buying a military. I find the FRN is just as grippy but easier on the pocket; it also lightens the knife, and I give big points for that. It's one of the reasons I edc'd an Endura for so long.

I love my G-10 Delicas in spite of the fact they are the dull green color, not because of it. I liked my first one so much I bought and traded for two more just in case.

I like the look of my FG G10 Endura. It looks a lot better in person. It has a certain "class" to it that's hard to describe. It has a very solid feel to it & just feels well made.

Hi Colorado,

Thanx for the sugggestion, but.... The G-10 Endura that we did make was a custom quality knife, but expensive. The quality and the strength of the Yen drove the price up. As Yab said, the price was probably the main reason for it's being disco'd. Well maybe the "Puke" green color helped.;)

Actually, Like Joe, I liked the color, but I'm not much of a "style" guy. That's Eric's department. He makes my "jump higher, run faster" designs, more eye appealing.

If a short run of Police 3s with "puke green" scales were made I'd have to get myself a second Police 3. I like it. Also...if brown linen micarta like a few limited Al Mar folders have ever found it's way onto any number of Spydercos I'd be forced to buy them too. I'd be powerless to refuse.

Thanks for all of the input. honestly I will probably keep searching for a LNIB Endura with G-10 scales in Foliage green.Because I really like Spyderco, I really like the Endura, I like Foliage green, and i like the feel of G-10 scales..oh ..and I like the locking system. What kind of lock is the Para 2 now days?
