ENDURA with G-10 scales. It's time Spyderco

The FRN scales like the ones that are on the Squeak or UK penknife would be nice ,still light or possibly lighter with FRN durability and cheaper than g10 yet looks similar to g10 ,would be great.

I've had my G10 Endura for about 3 years now and I absolutely love it! At the time, I paid about 120 for it NIB. It might have been a bit expensive but having since EDCing it, its worth it. The quality is top notch, better than my D2 Military. Funny thing is that it was the last knife I bought. It just was that great I didnt need another knife.

I also paid well over a $100 for mine when they first came out. $112 if I recall correctly, and slightly more for the G-10 Delica for some reason at the time. I still have them stored unused in their boxes, as I can't bear to bring myself to use them, they're so fine...

The opening holes are very sharp, so sharp they'll cut your thumb opening the blade; probably left unfinished after the flat grinding process.

I remember that for as nice as these were, that they weren't selling as well. I thought the price was fair, but only fair to buy once and once only. I remember well how much that stung the pocketbook, not to mention it was around the time the Police 3 came out and I just had to have a plain and a serrated model of those too.

I can't remember the exact date, but there was a time when the G-10 Endura was selling at a very special clearance price of around $66-$67. I was still reeling from that last knife purchase and was going through a "one knife purchase at a time" traditional knife phase, rounding out a Case yellow-handled, Chrome Vanadium collection. I remember telling my brother over the phone to get in on it because the price was such a bargain and they were being discontinued.

From time to time, I've seen these come up for sale on Ebay for a few hundred dollars for slightly used, to several hundred dollars for new-in-box. I'm really kicking myself now for not buying myself a back-up, as now I can never use them :D

It would be nice if they came out with a sprint run of these again, but I'm thinking they won't because it didn't sell well at over $100, but it sold GREAT at around $60-$70. Spyderco is in the knife making business, not the knife giving away business. ;)

I just bought a new Endura g-10 (10 min ago, haha) after recently purchasing a delica g10 and swapping a zdp189 blade onto it. The g-10 fit and finish is much higher and has a tighter feel. If you look around you can still find them fairly easy. I just bought mine for 142 shipped from canada to maui

I know this is an old thread, but a camo g10 endura would probably be my "grail knife", I'd buy one in a heartbeat. or for something different, how about a micarta endura? holding out hope for a sprint run g10 endura for 2014....

I find my Endura, Delica, and Dragonfly G10 knives the nicest folders I own, and the foliage green color the bee's knee's. That said, there are quite a few discontinued models I would love to see resurrected with the foliage green scales...the Rookie being one of many on my wish list. Now, the G10 versions of a model will weigh more because of the solid steel liners, and all steel back spacers, which BTW, really complete the wow factor for me. Lastly, I would love a sprint run of orange G10 on the Delica and Dragonfly, as well as another orange run of PM2's.

Which reminds me, who can I go to for some G10 scales for my soon to arrive Swick3?

Wow this thread is old,
I bought my endura intending to mod, but I LOVED the frn after a day, funny!
But I did it anyways! :D

Honestly, not sure I would do an endura ever again, big pain in the butt.

Get me an Endura/Delica with the grey G-10 and Superblue(over the new FRN models) and we'll talk.
Better yet, make them Carbon Fiber with ZDP or another high grade steel and I'm in. =]

Really I'd like to just get a ZDP Stretch(Love the choil that the Endura and Delica lack) and add some custom scales, maybe I will one day.

the G10 endura 4 competes to closely with other models currently being offered.

just get a para 2, it's approximately the same size as the endura 4, it actually weighs less than a G10 endura 4, plus it has a better lock.

Good points.

If that's the case, then you can also say that every full size folder Spyderco makes is approximately the same size right? And that everything between 3.4 and 4.1 inch blades they make compete with each other.

On bladelength alone, the Endura is 3.9 inches compared to the PM2's 3.4. You'll be amazed at how many Spyderco fans love the ambidextrous backlock and the knives' blade profile and overall shape is completely different. Even the opening hole are different diameters.

They are very different knives and both have a place in my rotation

You know, among other things, this is one of the reasons I love Spyderco. I'm still pretty new to the world of knives, but I played around with a lot of them before I picked up my Meadowlark. There were other folders in that size and price range by Spyderco and Byrd that I liked, but most of them didn't have the back lock. I'm sure a slipjoint and liner lock work just fine, but I feel more comfortable having a lock, especially when I don't have to stick my fingers in front of the blade to close it. With that, my preference would be for the Endura over the Para 2.
