Endura, ZDP-189 or VG-10 for hard use?

Just curious, has anyone actually chipped their ZDP spydie? I mean your personal knife, not that you heard of so & so chipping their knife. A buddy of mine just got a ZDP E4 today. I will report if any chipping is observed. Sure is sharp.

Yes, I have chipped a ZDP Endura. And a VG-10 Endura. And an ATS 55 Endura. And a ZDP Delica. And a VG-10 Delica. And an AUS 8 Delica. And an S30V Native. And a D2 Queen. And a 1095 Schrade. And a CV Case. And a 440C Griptillian. And an ATS 55 Dyad. And a BG-42 Military. And a...

You get the idea.

I have managed to chip almost every knife I have used at work. Concrete, steel, ceramic tile, porcelin, enamel, rocks, etc. tend to do that to knife edges when they come in contact. It doesn't mean that any of those steels are prone to chipping, it only means I can be really hard on knives ;)

For cutting of steel belted tires, I'd recommend an ice pick. Less expensive and better tool for the job.:D

But if you really want a better knife, go with the VG-10. It's the best compromise of edge retention, toughness, and sharpening ease that is currently on the market IMHO.
