Got a Gerber Ripstop and it's little brother for christmas....

It hurts my hands to open and close.... I hate being gifted super low quality knives.... Not sure what to do with them. I know a couple guys at my unit would love them... But I hate re-gifting gifts....

Cabela's Pro Grinder...

hahaha, nice.
too small. :D

I CAN get my sierra and hornady bullet heads from Cabelas... hm.
But vs. a Benchmade mini-grip? hm. CB, can you tell them to stock the 707 immediately AND put it on sale?

Daizee, if you have biggish hands, I would look past the mini grip and get the full sized one.
I got a 551 for Christmas, and it is a good sized handle. If it is legal for your area, I would look into it. STR here on the forum was making low ride clips for them, too.
If I had $100 to spend at Cabela's, I would probably get a nice Leatherman and spend the rest on ammunition...

Looks like ole Moose ain't effin around with his challenge this time around. Wonder if anyone is going to do it?

If only I had a place to do it. Still not sure if I would or not though, haha. I'm not that experienced.

Its pretty dang cold here to be sleeping out two nights with a space blanket.

My money is on Dres if he can get the time away to do it.

OLJ may be crazy enough, but I haven't seen him around for a while.
Doc has the cajones, too.

I am way too much of a chicken to try it, and I've got 200 acres at my disposal!:D

I ain't messin around with challenges in the ADK's this time of year, regularly 10 or more below zero near my college the only advantage I'd have is that I could make a good snow shelter. Plus my little overnight turnaround in the woods earlier this year didn't instill too much confidence in this kind of situation.

I think knowing your limits is okay. I personally wouldn't feel up to trying this unless I had an excellent game plan worked out and knew all the variables ahead of time, but ultimately I would be hard pressed to say I was confident enough in my skills to attempt this. Could I if I had to? Maybe, although I doubt I would get much sleep during it.

That's what I was thinking, I would want to do a couple dry runs (with decreasing amounts of gear each run) and have a buddy nearby but I don't want to get caught in some backwoods in a bad snowstorm without gear, plus if things go south I don't want to miss a day or more of classes recovering.

:D
make a mylar burrito and burrow into a snowbank...

like I was saying -- with a decent snow on the way, a shelter could be made and the snow would seal it up from wind -- use the mylar for a reflector and a small fire in front -- or a dakota fire pit and the mylar as a blanket/hood to hold in the heat, life would be good.
snowmelt provides drinking water.
2 days is doable, but would not be comfortable in my terrain, IF it was warmer than the past week has been.
at 22f I'd be willing to try it, at 12F or below with a 25 mph breeze and no snow to build a shelter with? nope, nuh-uh, not me.
