English Jacks, Again!!

Question for the experts ... (Paging waynorth waynorth and Jack Black Jack Black )

Does a single blade 5 inch closed Daddy Barlow or the same size Toothpick/Tickler qualify as an English Jack, or do English Jacks have to have two blades?

Winchester Buffalo Bill Cody English Jack from "The Scouts" boxed set. Queen made and released in 1988.

You know how many were made of these, those look like a deep etch.

I'm interested in the answer as well but, IIRC, being an English Jack involves more than just blade configuration. I remember discussion about the presence of end caps (which the Daddy Barlow generally omits), a sleeve board shape (which I imagine would disqualify the toothpicks/ticklers), and "premium embellishments" like fancy bolsters and stamped end caps (we've all seen fairly plain English jacks from the likes of Queen and GEC, so I'm uncertain how much influence premium embellishments have over the definition).

Standing by for education!

I believe a total of 2500 sets were made.

It is indeed a very deep etch and with red color fill!

All collector value is lost on me as I use them and enjoy doing so.
Sorry. I must agree about using the knife regardless of rarity and "collector value". ☹️

For example, I enjoy using my few GEC's.
All of mine have lost any and all "collector value" (air quotes) "thanks" to patina and having met a sharpening stone to refine the edges.

Personally, I "think" the cutlers (those still on the census, and who have not been affected by Dementia/Alzheimer's, any way) who made any of my knives would be insulted and offended if the knife they created was not used.

I can just imagine them asking: "What? You don't trust my craftsmanship?!?" 😡

With Yorkshire Day coming soon, I thought of English Jacks, although this one is of German origin!!!
Harrington Cutlery (to make it sound English??), Solingen!! Nice lock-up, a real self-defense knife at nearly 4 5/8", with a quick cam tang!!!Harrington 1.jpgGerman Old LB 3.jpg

Hmmm ... My Paternal lineage has some British ancestors ... possibly from Yorkshire ... (and potentially Wales.)
I suppose I should carry my 1911-1921 American (Robeson 622119 Shur Edge) English Jack to celebrate?

I might probably should will add my 2019 Guardians Lamb Foot to my pocket, as well. 🤔

17543471690125581815443532813396.jpgmy first and only English Jack, when I get a new pattern I usually carry for a minimum of a week and at first thought I would change this out after a few days but it became the opposite and I ended up carrying a few weeks and on off since,I got hooked on the long blade and it's sleekness but I carry in a slip clipped to my pocket so it's not filling my pocket,I can see in the early century this being left in tool boxes or lunch pails or work stations
Here is 2 cool patterns mind you they are Ben hogan's not a jack, one has a nail nick with a long pull which I don't think I saw before, and the second knife having a lockback so maybe one of these get another shot at the gec factory flor.

A beautiful English Jack you have there. I like the beaver shield.

Are those two GEC also considered a "copperhead"?
(I think that is the defining feature of the pattern (description?) of using a canoe-ish bolster at the pivot end, for a faux "sunken joint"?)

The question is; Are Ben Hogans English Jacks??? I think the answer is yes!! They have all the attributes, plus bolsters that hide the tang corners making them pocket friendly!!
Any other opinions???🤔
