Enlightened Beckerheads - Show us your flashlights!

What features do you look for in a head lamp?

Lumens, baby!

That Princeton Tec Remix tops out at 100 lumens. Good for post-sunset trail running.

The Fenix HL55 (on the climbing helmet) tops out at 900 lumens. Can you say "retina burn"?

900? Wow! Will it ignite tinder too? :D

Thanks, headlamps are something I've been casually researching.

Guyon, how are you liking that little olight? Been thinking of picking one up

Silverthorn talked me into it at last year's Blade. Great little light. Within a setup (Becker bag, truck BOB, day hike bag), I've tried to go with one battery size for headlamps and handheld lights. The first two are now CR123/18560. My daypack is AAA.

This is very good thinking. Imma hafta think about how I can do that as well. Now if only the camera and the cell phone could run off the same battery type.....

I've been doing the same thing except I've standardized on AA. I started with CR123 because its brighter but is too hard for me to find unless I'm ordering in bulk online. That said I'm looking at the HL50 to replace my HL30 since the 50 can take either a CR123 or a AA so i'd run a CR123 and then if I can't find one I at least can fall back on a popular battery type found almost everywhere that sells batteries or take the battery from my edc light if I need a headlamp

Boy, some of you are flashlight whores. Of course, I should talk.....but most of mine are pretty low $, uncomplicated ones. I'm happy with many and cheap. Priciest one is a Surefire (G4? - first of the LED's) that gets used daily in my work bag. L.L. Bean green dot (demo or used closeout) that I thought was exorbitant at $60. Bought it anyway, and have loved it for the last 8? years I've had it. Be really bummed if I lost it. Knock wood.

Anyone have suggestions for a good bright led lantern? I have a couple, but they just aren't bright enough. One is a small Coleman and the other is a Nebo Eco lantern. The Nebo is nice, because I can just leave it in my pickup and it charges via the solar panel on it. I use them mostly for light when I'm ice fishing, but they get used for camping too. I'd like to find something that throws out more light tho.

Check out some of the Black Diamond lanterns. I have a couple of the smallest LED ones (the Orbit) and they are fine for just being able to see....their Titan Lantern - Black Diamond Hiking/Trekking Gear puts out 250 lumens....

This puppy came in yesterday. its a Peak Eiger Cu. All the chargers, Eneloops, and 10440 batteries will cut into my knife money for a little while, but I've been needing a good single battery AAA light for EDC.
It's a bright little sucker with an energizer ultra lithium.
