Enrique Peña knives

Here are the liners ready to be cleaned off on the inside by bead blasting them.

Here I'm spinning the pins that will hold the knife together.

Hello to all here is another photo of the knife build with the pins already spunned and polished.

Here is picture of the spine of the knife after cleaning it but pior to adjusting the tang and pining the pivot pin. Some might think that this is working backwards but this will allow me to make the spine look like one piece of solid steel.

Here the blade tang has been adjusted for a flush fit also the blade now has a swedge ground on it and the blade is now cleand of. It will have a ground finish on it.

Here I'm pinning the pivot pin. I do it this way because it ensures that the sides will not shift and make the spring not to be flush. I also belive that the vise will apply a more equal/even and flat pressure on the pin verses the blow of a hammer. This is just what I think but works for me.

Beautiful. Thank you for sharing this with us. It is a treat to see how the greats do their magic.

Enrique: When you put the pivot pin in the vise.....is that all you do to pein...for lack of a better word? No mushrooming of the head of the pin with hammer or......? I have a hard time thinking that this will spread the pin to perfectly bend with the bolsters. But you are the man here...not me! Great knife as usual Enrique. It is always good to see how others make a knife.

You must chamfer the hole for the pin but you must not over do it whether using a hammer or the vise. I use a pivot bushing on all my knives and I can really crank on the handle of the vise and not lock up the knife and make the pin swell more than needed. You can do it without a pivot bushing you just have to be carefull not to over do it. I was doing it this way before I started using pivot bushings. Hope this helps you.

Great looking knife! Looks really nice, Your jigging
and dyeing is wonderful! Saber grind on that smaller blade
was tough I'm sure... Congrats and thanks for sharing.

Splendid knife, Enrique! What size is it? I was waiting for the swedge to show - voilà :)
Thanks for the WIP pictures.

That blade is a thing of beauty and I absolutely love your swedges.

Thank you so much for sharing how you make these works of art. I like the WIP pictures almost as much as the finished product.

That's cool, you must have shown Tony how to do that because he says and does the same thing. ;) Great looking knife, Enrique.:cool:
