Enterprise Car Rental: $129.91 for Windshield Washer Fluid

Finally, a Credit card company who takes care of their card holders!!!!

BTW, if you rent a car in the New England area and need to turn it back in with all fluids at the full level I sell windshield washer fluid for $37 a gallon, brake fluid for $32 pint, anti-freeze at $21.75 gallon and gas (unleaded 87 octane) at $9.50 a gallon.

Air for tires are free if you buy 10 gallons of gas or more. If not it is $4 per PSI.

Visa ruled on the matter today, already. The charge is unauthorized. The money has been refunded to me. And Enterprise will be penalized 18% and fined $45.

I'm glad to see this resolved

I work for AMEX and there's been a TON of miscelaneous charges on peoples accounts lately. Mostly from some wierd ass internet site called "true beginnings" Don't look it up, there's been fraud on just about every account I came across today from that site, it's based out of Texas too (at the least the charges are coming from Texas), that's all the info that I could pull up on it.

that is why when i go on vacation, i only use a major brand of credit card. a bank card cannot back you like a major credit card.

i am VERY glad that worked out for you!

Finally, guys in White hats prevail over BS business tactics on the consumer! Good for you, and us! Now Enterprise is 'on notice' about this BS charge, and if they try it again on someone in the know, they might be better off letting the person keep the damn car!

Glad you got this one cleared up. Sounds like somebody was playing games. Last time I checked, I think I paid 2 or 3 bucks for a full jug of washer fluid.

If it bothers you that much send a copy of the invoice to CNN with a letter explaining the situation.

That's absolutely nuts. I've worked in the credit card industry my entire carreer and some merchants are looney tunes, but I would have thought a big company like that would have just eaten the cost and pressed on.

Someone at Enterprise screwed up. The only fluid the renter is responsible for is gas. I mean, what if after the rental car is returned it needed an oil change, coolant flush, and new brakes? How about new tires? What a joke.

Someone at Enterprise screwed up. .

Exactly. But what is annoying is that none of the people I spoke to -- who would all say that the charge was highly irregular -- would reverse it.

But this is a problem not confined to Enterprise Car Rental. Nobody cares about customer service anymore. Lilly Tomlin's skit about "We don't care. We don't have to... we're the phone company," now seems to be the attitude of most businesses. The folks at the top like to talk about how customer service is the most important thing, but where the rubber hits the road, nobody cares. This really confuses me too because of what I "instant total karma." These days, a situation gets on the internet and within hours hundreds of people have read about it. Instant Total Karma works the other way too. If you go out of your way to help a customer, they'll post that too and everyone will hear about it.

I canceled my car reservation with Ent. and went with Hertz for Blade...based on this fiasco..

I did the same! Enterprise told me 550 bucks because they don't offer unlimited miles and I needed to purchase 2000 miles for the trip; I call up Hertz and they tell me 250 done deal.

Instant Total Karma. or... ah... Carma in the case.

Thanks guys.

Oh, and Ren, I'm looking forward to seeing you in the Pit. I'll buy you a drink... a cheap one, but a drink anyway :)

Looking forward to seeing the Bali King myself. And usually I only drink soda when I am at the shows. ( booze cuts into the knife money:D) so you are in luck. I am expecting to see some fine balis though:D

I hope you guys, and subsequent folks who rent cars let the compnaies no why you are renting with them. I'd make certain that E Car knew why I was cancelling and going with 'the other guys'.....Drive safely! And if you have an E Car rental well then ENJOY the car you paid for it!

I rented from Enterprise a couple of weeks ago. Reserved a premium car days in advance for a drive up to north Jersey. Showed up on the day of the trip and the best they could do was a Geo Metro. After some discussion, they managed to locate a Hummer H3 as a substitute that they gave me for the same price, but it was a hassle. Had to be shuttled to a different location, extra waiting, etc.

Enterprise is convenient since they are in neighborhoods vs the airport and you avoid all the airport use taxes, but they don't consistently have their act together.

This comes from the current teachings that the corporations give their employees. The employees are indoctrinated and taught to act as if the corporation is the all being. Everything they are taught is with the intent of protecting the corporation. It is 21st century business. I hate it.

Good on you for fighting it! The idiots need to pay whenever possible. Of course in my world it would come out of the moron's pocket's directly or via a pound of flesh. However, I'm not King yet:D
