ESEE 6 or BK 2

Becker has the same type of followers as the Sebenza on here, it would seem.

Yeah, they can be a bit abrasive at times imo. I would take anyone's opinion who has a Beckerhead number in their sig line with a grain of salt as their opinion is far from unbiased. YMMV.

Take everyone's opinion with a grain of salt. Search their post history. Look at their started threads. Bias can be found all over the place.

There are plenty of non beckerheads that will endorse becker knives. Many of the beckerheads will also say very good things about other knife brands. They do have a loyal following, but not all are biased.

I will agree with that for the most part. But, anyone that belongs to a fanboy club for their favorite brand is more likely to have a biased opinion towards that brand then your average person imo.

Well , it's not like ESEE doesnt have a fanboy club also... including a forum!

Becker or ESEE.... It doesnt matter because everyone knows Busse is king!

All knife owners are very weird in their own unique way. Read my Guide to the Knife Industry. People don't get it's a tool, like a screwdriver, a printer, or a toilet plunger. Why create forums to worship it?

However, if you want to take Field and Stream's word for it, Page 54 of the May 2016 issue identifies the ESEE 6 as "The Ultimate Survival Knife".

Go for th ESEE 6, I have the BK 2, heavy on th belt for longer periods. I say even go for the ESEE 4, good all around blade, not for chopping, but have a small ax.

Expat, seems I saw that too about the ESEE 6 in F&S, so that would be all I need in order to buy it :p.

On a serious note, I would take the ESEE 6 any day over the BK-2 (which I like) and I have multiples of both. But if you could hold off for a few months, Mike over at ESEE said they were coming out with a 6 HM, which I think would be great if it's anything like the new ESEE 3 & 4 HM.

Well thanks for the feed back guys, Becker heads and ESEE fan alike. I went with the ESEE 6, I think it suits me and needs well, one day I would like to own a few Becker knives tho, the BK2 the BK16 and the RSK MK 2 all look like great knives but for now the ESEE 6 will be my go to. I will let you know how I feel about it after I try it out for a while. Thanks again everyone.

The BK12 has a grip with enough of a Tang that will stop you from sliding onto the blade when your hands are filled with sweat, grease, and possibly blood.

I just got a 4HM and it has a totally different feel about it compared to the original 4, plenty of handle. The leather sheath is nice also.

I thoroughly enjoyed my Esee 4, I'm sure the 6 would treat you just as well. The thickness is the same in both so you shouldn't have any problems abusing it. Have fun!

I hope that you did not perceive anything that I posted in this thread (or elsewhere, for that matter) as "abrasive." I am a self-professed and confessed Becker Knife fan, as evidenced by my signature, but do own, use and appreciate other brands as well.

Bias is evidenced in just about every knife purchase. Think about it; you are considering three knives in a given category (survival, bushcraft, skinner, EDC folder, Tac/SD folder, etc.) and have narrowed your search to three knives from three different manufacturers. When you eventually pick the one, based upon whatever criteria ultimately tripped your trigger- you displayed bias. Your bias in favor of that particular knife, over the other two, was the basis for your purchase decision.

These are perfect examples of the kind of posts we'll not be tolerating in General anymore. All these posts do is provoke a pissing contest. Are we talking about knives here? Nope. Fair warning.

BK2 is awesome. Can't go wrong with the ESEE 6 either

I prefer the Becker.
It's thicker, delivers more power when chopping, I also prefer the handle.

I prefer the ESEE6 -- and am looking forward to fondling the HM series knives at Blade show.

My experience with full size BK&T handles is that they were designed for folks with medium to large hands and so for me are too confining for chopping, but work great for slicing, shaving, etc...
OTOH, if you are at all handy with power tools, it's not that difficult to open up the handle a bit fore and aft and make/alter a set of aftermarket scales, which makes a world of difference.

personally, I find the ESEE6 and the BK16 to be 2 of the best performing US made general purpose production woods bumming knives available.

I was going to buy a 6 already, but now I'm waiting until the HM version is released. I really want the 3 and 4 too, might have to replace my old 3 :D
