ESEE any good?

ESEE knives have only one flaw. When you get one, you want one more. And it never ends. Even after you have the entire production line including the color variation, different editions like the SWAT knife and 3Mil, there's a desire for one more to try out some custom mod.
Other than that they are great.

And for the pack I really wouldn't know. But ppl that have it said that it's really sturdy and well made.

Anyone got a pack or packs?

I also like the looks of some and would like to know what owners think!
Water storage/room/holds up you know?

I don't have any experience with the ESEE soft goods, but I do have experience with the imported ripoffs that Blackhawk! tries to pawn off as hard use equipment. Nothing Blackhawk makes is unique, most of them are rebranded items. Their nylon gear and flashlights are mass production Chinese crap with their logo on them. Most of their blades are made in China or Taiwan. Their clothes aren't made very well at all. At one time they made some really good stuff, but I think they are riding their name selling cheaper products to the mall ninja crowd for monetary gain. The only thing I really love is their SERPA holsters.

If you want really good hard use soft goods, I imagine the ESEE stuff is top notch, but like I said I have no experience. Maxpedition is great at these things, it's all they do, so that's what I buy. Yes it's made in Taiwan, but they have some great quality control people over there. Check out Tactical Tailor as well, they are made in USA and tough as nails.

I got blackhawk issued knee pads about a decade ago...hard use is an understatement of what they have been thru. I've had a little bit of stitching done on some of the hook/loop...but other than that...they have been a tough piece of kit. of course...this is just my experience.

the junglas pack really looks like the old Eagle pack...if it's anything like it...it would be beyond the capability of most ordinary people to hurt it.

Well, all of you will be pleased to know that we are in the process of buying sewing machinery as I type this and within the next 6 months or so we will have our own USA made sewing shop up and running. We will be slow to start with, building simple items but eventually we will be sewing backpacks and every other piece of custom soft goods you can imagine. Mike and I got tired of trying to get soft goods made so we dcecided to start our own shop ;)

No, in Tennessee. We are SICK of manufacturers bitching about all the work going overseas then you can't even get them to quote (much less deliver) a damn product even when you pay them up front. So, we are starting our own damn shop and to hell with trying to out-source.

Thanks for the info Jeff.

I don't blame you either.... sounds like a good plan to me. It'll also give y'all more direct supervision over the product being built. A win - win sounds like to me. :)

man...that's cool, Jeff! I'd tell ya good luck, but with what you know of hard work and quality....your success at this project is a given!

Jeff,
that sounds like an EXCELLENT plan -- best of luck geting it off the ground.
finding a good office/plant manager and reliable help can be tough, but I appreciate your willingness to look for an onshore solution.

Best stuff on the market. Best warranty in the world. Best value of any knife made. Nah, you won't want one.

That sounds great! Do you know when the izula folder will be available? Something more specific than "late 2010"? It looks like a great pocket knife and I would like to get my hands on one ASAP. Thanks!

At first I thought that was some kind of *trick question* "are esee knives any good?" Then I figured out it had to be someone just pullin our legs. So Hey leggo my leg.!!! OK they are much better than good.
Ooh Ooh...Esee makes vests??? Gotta know gotta know. need a good vest for every day carry (wear a leather one every day anyways) but want a good looking using vest. (Mine *leather* has way to many bulges in it) Got some??:D edgy..

You guys start making packs and clothes in U.S.A. I will own at least one of everything!

Sucks you guys had such bad experiences, however I am happy to hear you guys are starting up your own sewing company. Knowing the quality that you have put into your blades I can expect the same from your soft goods.

Wow, two pages and not one remark about bears and where they defecate or the moisture resistance rating of a frog's anus. I'm really surprised....

No, in Tennessee.

Cool :thumbup:Tennessee is a good state to test gear in :)

I've had my eye on the pack as well... I do own a 3, 4, a HEST and soon to have a HEST folder in my hands (114Days 21Hours 44Minutes) I'm also looking at the RC5 and the Junglas... This knife thing is hard to kick, no matter how hard I DON'T try..

All of our products, regardless of origin, have to meet standards or we don't sell them. The shop in Colombia is actually a .favorite for the U.S. Embassy personal across the street. Some of our friends working there introduced us. Buy we still look for reliable U.S. Vendors too . Bottom line is we always try to get the best for you and keep it where you can afford to buy it. Mike
