I read here, every once in a while, about members good experiences with customer
service from various companies. I myself have called 2 or 3 for screws & clips & have
always been sent them free of charge. I didn't expect them for free & always had a
credit card ready to pay for them.
I received 3 Esee knives on trade from a member & one was missing the screws to
attach the Molle Locks to the sheath. I called Esee & was told to go on line & order
them & pay for them with paypal. I told the lady I was not a member of paypal so did
that mean I would just have an unusable sheath for belt carry. She gave me the phone
number of a guy to call. I called the number & when the phone was answered the
recording said 3 words: "leave a message". I left a message & after I hung up I was
quite sure I would not hear back, and it looks like I'm right.
I do a lot of trading on BF, much more than my feedback reflects, just a short
message to future traders. DO NOT OFFER ME ANY ESSE KNIVES ON TRADE.

Edited to add: I was going to leave this in the ESSE forum but it is closed. So hope it's
OK to put it here, if not please delete.

Sounds like you got lost in the shuffle...
Shoot me an email with your info and I will send you a couple:thumbup:

so, you are missing a sheath screw from a used knife received in trade and now you no longer want anything to do with their products?

i get you are frustrated by the fact that you need paypal to buy from their site, but i bet if you pm'd or emailed one of the forrmer esee mods you would be taken care of.

Whether he bought the knife new direct from ESEE or one of their authorized sources, traded for, or was given it as a gift and was new or used is of no consequence. The point is he needs some screws and ESEE is one of the most logical places to get them. He was met with what I consider, based on his story, less than adequate customer service and concern. That, my friends, is the point of contention. The fact that a generous member offered to send him the screws is also not the point, although it could very well solve his problem. I would agree with him that in the future I would not be jumping up and down to add ESEE to my collection IF I had some reason to believe that customer service and support would, based on personal history be found lacking.

My experiences with the ESEE crew have always been great! Just this week I took my Junglas out for a day hike and lost my tension screw. I shot Jeff/Mike an email and within 24 hours they emailed me back and have one in route to me, free of charge.

ESEE has the best customer service that I have ever experienced......not sure what the deal is with the OP but very unusuall

I'm quite sure ESEE's customer service is second to none & the service I got was the exception
to the norm. Sheathmaker, you hit the nail on the head with your post. Steelnut, I do thank
you for the offer but I did not post this looking for a handout. I will go down to the local ACE
Hardware & come up with something or just sell it for a price that nobody will care if they have
screws or not. Shotgun, you are probably right on not having to be a paypal member to buy
screws on the site. But I'm too dense to be told I can pay for items on their website by using
paypal & assume there are other ways to also pay for them.
Please don't anyone tell me I should have undone the trade if I wasn't happy, as you would be
missing the point of the post.

I believe Jeff and Mike are gone to instruct a survival training course this week. On the other website, they said that they should be back in touch by the end of the week.
As far as I know, their business is a relatively small one in terms of employment. The woman who referred to someone else, probably referred you directly to Jeff or Mike, and if they are gone, that may explain the lack of communication. Not trying to defend them or whatever, just throwing out a possible explanation, because as far as I have heard their customer service is hard to top.

You don't need another way to pay for it. You don't need any account or relationship with paypal to pay with paypal. Paypal is just a way for sellers to process credit card payments, basically. You have a credit card, you can pay with paypal.

Maybe whoever you talked to shoulda told you "go on line & order them & pay for them with your credit card" on the phone, or just told you "go on line & order them on the website" and left you to see for yourself how to pay with your credit card. You could complain about that, but while you're complaining why don't you go to the website and order the screws?

Cougar, you pretty well summed'er up so let's just close 'er off. Oh, the screw problem is no
longer a problem.
