ESEE / DPx H•E•S•T folder pricing / specs

I have a right hand carry one on order from Dale at getafreeknife.com. I am going to do a full scale review on it. May even slip the junk yard a $20 spot to bust some windows. :D

Also known as Dale from the-knife-connection.com.

I look forward to the review TwinBlade!

The glass breaking sounds neat... Be careful!

Heavy cowhide gloves and quick sharp rap. :D

Dale's website has 2 domains. I always put the one that I did because I am too lazy to put the hyphens in the-knife-connection. :D

Oh wait,, you are Dale! LOL!!!!!!!

You can use just knifeconnection.com & that will get you there as well.

Does anyone know where the lanyard attaches to? I hear there is one included in with the knife, but the only thing I see is a bolt shaped hole on the G10 side. Is this for the lanyard, or tightening a bolt?
there's a hole in the glass breaker - the lanyard goes on a split ring threaded through that hole so you can break glass without getting the lanyard in the way.

Anyone have any word on how these are coming along? Any design changes, delays, or anything of importance?

so far i havent heard of any changes, i am looking forward to the HEST folder, it will be my dedicated hard use folder :D

I'm planning the same thing. I just couldn't bring myself to use a $500 XM-18 but this one . . . I think I would feel okay beating the snot out of it. :D:thumbup:

Same here, I can't see myself spending that much on a knife when less expensive models can do the job just fine. The HEST folder is one I'm keeping my eye on for sure.

Hey Jeff/Mike and RYP,

I just read about issues with Spyderco's new Titanium framelock Military models with Reeve Integral Locks (R.I.L.) being modded by the addition of stainless steel inserts at the tip of the frame where it locks up the blade. This is being done due to issues with wear on the Ti locking mechanism because Ti is a relatively softer metal than steel.
Is this something you guys are aware of? Just looking out because I'd hate to see you guys go to production on these and run into this issue like Spyderco did.

Here's the thread from the Spyderco sub-forum:

Cheers!

I see why that was implemented on the Mili and that it is used by Lion Steel but doesn't that imply that all other folders with Ti frame locks are flawed. Might be a hard sell since there are numerous knife makers with Ti frame locks and no stainless inserts.

Another question is, if Lion Steel is manufacturing these, will they put the stainless insert in? Or at least recommend it? Or is it patented?

Very interesting stuff Nigel.

Thanks man! I'm sure the guys are aware of this but I thought I'd throw it out there just in case. These guys make an awesome product, especially since they partnered with Rowen. I'd just hate to see that rep get tarnished in any way at all because of a simple manufacturing oversight.
I'm not familiar with Ti applications in knife handles so can't speak on whether this is a design flaw or not, and until I read that post about the Mili, I had no idea it was an issue.

Gianni emailed a few photos of the initial prototype builds. He found one small design mistake that we have to fix and he's working out that now. We should have production prototypes soon. So, slight delay but the project is moving forward.

Not yet. Want to have the final protos worked out before posting pics.

Looking forward to the pictures.

I have a ton of customers all waiting and wanting.

The pre-sales have far out sold the ESEE Junglas which for a long time was my biggest seller.

Steven Seagal once said "The anticipation of death is worse than death itself".

The anticipation of the HEST Folder is killing me and I'm sure I'm not alone.

Stay safe my friends.

Thank you, sir. Most of the dealers who have these on pre-order are already sold out.
