just saw the new ESEE folder online and i have to say i'm highly disappointed appears to be Taiwanese made/produced, AUS-8 blade steel ... fairly priced at $30.95 on knifeconnection.com...... however i was expecting USA made and much higher steel quality :grumpy: this is a huge bummer! anyone else have any thoughts or opinions on this?? let me know! (end rant)

here's the link for the knife : http://www.the-knife-connection.com/brkesee-zancudo-b-brkr1b.html

This is what I want

I'm guessing it will be a good knife for the price. Maybe they'll make some higher end folders at some point. I think the fixed blade Izula is probably the ideal EDC knife anyway.

I was looking at it last night. If I didn't have that knife niche so well covered, I would be interested. Good starter for someone new to knives looking for a decent utility blade.

As far as made overseas, welcome to the real world. Taiwan has good knifemakers, AUS-8 is no supersteel but it is a good working choice, and for a small knife, is more than reasonable for the light work most people will use a knife that size.

Looks like it might be a solid budget folder. It's very ugly though.

This one wasn't made by ESEE. It was a contract with Blue Ridge Knives. ESEE designed the knife and then BRK took over from there. It is built by the same people that did the RAT-1 folder.

I don't know anything about marketing or any of that but Maybe ESEE is easing into the world of folders. Maybe if this does well enough we'll see the Izula folder with either a D-2 or 1095 blade

Nothing wrong with made in tiawan for a edc user knife. You would be surprised how many companies use tiawan

That's not even what bugs me about it, I just don't like the general design. It does look like a good value, but it just doesn't speak to me like the Izula folder does. To me, it's a letdown, because we've been waiting for the Izula folder for so long already, and we get what looks like a much lower-quality knife. I also absolutely despise the name. Mosquito? Really? They had to choose the one animal I despise over all others?

I just pre-ordered a stonewashed one. I'll share my thoughts whenever it gets here.

Get over it? If you want a quality product from them, let them decide how to do it and do it right. Either buy another knife instead or quit whining and wait on the Izula As someone said, they are probably testing the waters with makers and consumers both to find what they want.

that's exactly how i feel, because we have been waiting for the IZULA folder for so long and then they have this much lower quality blade produced it's a massive letdown!
