ESEE folder

don't get sassy with me. besides, you're whining about me whining (; hypocrite?

The real issue is that steels like AUS8 and 1095 can be easily sharpened in the field, on a rock if need be. These are guys whose first love is survival training and going out in the wilderness for extended periods. It's hard to reconcile that with some of these super steels. I'd be happy seeing that folder in 440C, which btw they are getting comfortable with in the stainless versions of their fixed blades. Thanks for jot biting my head off; I had had little sleep before making that post.

I hope that they sell like hot cakes. Great company\organization.

you are correct, and it's great they're using stainless steels now! and as far as biting your head off, it's hard not to whine when you've been awaiting for them to finish that knife as long as I, and everyone else has been .

I just hope they don't use a cheap black paint . Like the rat 1 . If they go with a DLC sweet knife for the price .

Well I LIKE the knife, and I *might* pick it up at some point for a cheap, reliable lend out knife/beater. Doesn't look BAD, and I expect it to be effective and useful. It IS an ESEE after all, they have a reputation to maintain.

Now what I'm REALLY excited for is that stainless Izula.....:p

This is what I want

Hell yeah! +10!

Ordered one today. I have been very pleased with the Ontario RAT 1 and RAT 2 folders from Ontario. They are made with AUS 8 steel, and are designs from Mike and Jeff.
Yeah, I would REALLY like the Izula folder...............................

I was looking at it last night. If I didn't have that knife niche so well covered, I would be interested. Good starter for someone new to knives looking for a decent utility blade.

As far as made overseas, welcome to the real world. Taiwan has good knifemakers, AUS-8 is no supersteel but it is a good working choice, and for a small knife, is more than reasonable for the light work most people will use a knife that size.

just saw the new ESEE folder online and i have to say i'm highly disappointed appears to be Taiwanese made/produced, AUS-8 blade steel ... fairly priced at $30.95 on knifeconnection.com...... however i was expecting USA made and much higher steel quality :grumpy:

Horrendously ugly!

yeah, that cheap spray-paint quality crap they use on cheaper knives is just annoying!

It's a knife, it cuts things. It's only $30.00 with more than decent steel and build quality, and on top of everything it's a framelock. If it's made by the same company that makes the Rat 1 then I know it's a solid folder for sure. You want a USA made knife with a higher grade steel for only $30.00? Haha good luck! I personally believe ESEE is making the right choice by making this knife. I know it will turn out to be a great user for the money. That's all it is... a user. I know ESEE will probably make other higher end folders in the future. If you don't like it don't buy it, simple as that.

Now please quit your bitching little man.

It's an alright budget folder, but that's what it is: a budget folder. And that's alright. Realize, like others have said, it's not an ESEE knife, it's a collab. Blue Ridge asked ESEE for input in exchange for advertising in the form of a name on it. Blade designers do it all the time. It's not a Tighe custom, it's a CRKT he helped designed, and CRKT manufactures it. Same thing here.

Direct quote from the ESEE website, "ESEE ® Knives will be starting production on the long awaited Izula ® Folder in 2013", "..... it will be all USA Made in the Rowen Manufacturing shop."

I saw this on one of the comments on their facebook page asking about the folder:
"No timeline yet on release but we are getting closer. With the new grinder the other machinery is freed up to start working"

(end rant)

here's the link for the knife : http://www.the-knife-connection.com/brkesee-zancudo-b-brkr1b.html

I was too but I got lit up in the esee forums by a few members for speaking my opinion on the knife. I see where they're coming from, but in my eyes it's just a beater knife. Which Jeff then came by and explained it's exactly that.
