I managed to get here in time to get an un-numbered one. It was a CF for sure.I can't believe Mrs. S would even consider doing it again but I guess that's why we love her.

I'd prepay, no questions asked.

But I'd definitely vote for an Izula, the people that have them usually have more than one, so I guess you can't have enough Izulas!

By the way, what's with the people that are recommending just the knives they don't have? shell fish much?

Seems pretty simple in theory.
Must be a RP member by a certain date. After cut off, no exceptions.
Must pay by a certain date and provide info. One knife, no variables, other than RP #'s. No exceptions.
Must shut the hell up until they ship, or your RP knife will be sold to someone else. No exceptions.

Of course, in practice, I imagine it's a little different. :p

I'm truly surprised to hear Katie say she'd even consider it after what happened last time! :)

You can already see people asking for this-model or that-color and all!

I think you should just decide what what model you want to offer, at full Estimated Retail Price (isn't that what Jeff said they are hoping to move to instead of MSRP?) cash pre-paid, with specific instructions on the order that have to be followed. Mess up on the instructions, or pester Katie with emails about status, and you are disqualified and lose your money! Of course, look at Jeff's contest and see how many will be disqualified for not following the directions :D . (I'd probably make a mistake or two myself LOL ).

That's the only way it could be worth it to her is if she gets to keep all the forfeited money!

Just tell us what we want, don't ask us! :)

not only are people recommending what knife to use and color.there saying for you to pick it,and how were to pay for it.
maybe all these posts are a good reason not to do this again Mrs shoty.
but if & when you talk to Jeff about it all weak at shot show, you could get Dale at TKC
to make custom scales with our numbers on them for a discounted price and everything????
then make us walk on our knees to your house from no matter where we live to make payment in advance & wash the Mr's truck????

How about a rat pack PACK? The new ESEE pack kits would be sweet.easier to mod than knives.Have our rat pack number and/or name on a Rat pack kit bag.
It'd be great publicity for the new packs.

just a thought......

As crazy as this sounds I would do it again for ya'll. I don't think its out of the question. Let me work on 'the man.' As it was before if your dumb shows I cancel your order.

You're insane, lol. I do think enough was learned on round one to make it better this time around.

being a new member of the pack, i realize that i don't really have much say in anything, but that's my two cents.

I don't remember a seniority clause in the Rat Pack. We're idiots, but not elitist. If you've got an opinion, fire away.

I would guess that it would be easiest to just make one color <snip>
They could all be specifically pre-ordered and paid for by Pack members who wanted in and not just all manufactured (1000 knives or 1000 of each color) to prevent being left with numbered knives going to people who aren't in the Rat Pack then having that person complain someone else has 'their' knife. Buyers receive the knife in the number of their rat pack number and people who don't opt in give up their rights and their knife (knives) aren't produced.

That's basically exactly how it was susposed to work last time.

Seems pretty simple in theory.

Again, how it was susposed to work. Simple, right?

My vote is for a bright lime green G10 esee 3 clip point with a new custom pack logo....and green plastic molded sheath :)

<begin monkeys throwing poo at each other>

How many members were there at the time of the first "Pack" knife?

I'm #283 and I remember the knife landing shortly after I got my number. Somehow, I completely missed the sign up. :o

I'm #303, I got in at the tail end. I think there were around 310 members when they made the blades, and 200 made. A few people bought 2, and there were something like 20 blanks made to finish out the run.

If I remember right the RP3 hit not too long after I got my #. Maybe around the same time. Katie I can't believe you would even think of doing this again and I thought Jeff said it would never happen again anyway? I was grateful to even get one but boy did I watch myself and emailing anyone. I would be in for what ever is chosen within reason. I like the idea of an Orange Izzy or IzzyII with Orange G10 or black micarta scales. But it not a big deal to me I have a RP3. :)

As others have written, I'm interested but don't have a RP# yet and would not be able to fund one of the larger blades. An Izula sounds perfect to me. So if I qualify and no unexpected financial tragedies occur, I'd really like to get a Pack knife.

You're right; it does sound a little crazy. I'm glad you choose to be a blessing rather than hold a grudge. There are plenty of people in this thread who will be glad to help you cancel orders for anyone too challenged by the wait. I seem to recall some discussion of an enforcement squad in another thread. ;)

I would guess that it would be easiest to just make one color (to prevent members from buying both colors and preventing others from getting one) or only make them for the 1000 Rat Pack members and offer either one or both colors per member.

I would guess something simple like an Izula II would be a good compromise for everyone - it's a great knife, small, very versatile and cheaper. I don't think too many people don't like the Izula II.

That's my two cents on how I think it would be easiest to manage.

We did it before. It would be very similar to the last time. Some lessons were learned and we will NOT make those mistakes again.

Stupid touch screen droid accidentally voted no I feel sick but I would love to get my hands on one

I will vote yes for you since I didn't vote yet.

I was here for the first Rat Pack knife signup. It was a nightmare for the poor souls running it and why Mrs. S would volunteer to do it all over again baffles me. She must really love us all:)That being said, I would sign up for another pack knife if it was a 4. For me it's not a yes or no answer.

I do. You're all like the brothers I THOUGHT I always wanted. :p

Thanks. :)

And we did 200. I believe 20 of them were unnumbered. By the time we got to the tail end of it where the unnumbered ones were going to be purchased people got so bajiggity that Jeff and i couldn't handle it anymore and said ...... it they get unnumbered ones.

Seems like the KISS principle plus no exceptions on deadlines would be the way to go.
Also you did see how RYP ripped that knife away from the customer who got all fidgety, didn't you? :D
