ESEE Izula or EDC folder?

I never carried just the Izula. I always have it with a folder. Great combo. I highly recommend the Izula. Fair warning though. Once you start on the small fixed blade route, and find that you like it? You will end up with many more....

Yeah, I've become quite fond of scrolling through the thread. Haven't been able to directly partake in it, but will be very happy when the time comes!

Does anyone carry an Izula ll around their neck? I have a ll coming with full kit and also ordered an Al Welke custom Taco kydex sheath and Tek-Lok. I was hoping to carry the ll around my neck sometimes.
Let me know what you all think.

I tried my Izula II around my neck and I found that it was just way too heavy. Mine did have the micarta scales on it so that could have also played a role in it. I usually just threw it in my pocket or horizontal on my belt.

I often carry either an Izula, or an Izula II in my pocket. I do not care for neck knives at all...they can be hazardous in many ways. But the Izula fits right nicely in my front pocket and the sheath flies off with a push of the thumb. I highly recommend them. They have the same blade length as a Spyderco Delica, which is enough knife.

I don't like things hanging from my neck. That said, I have hiked many kilometers with the Izula around my neck. More comfortably around my shirt coller. I prefer it on my belt or in my pocket, though.

I don't, my fiancée does pretty regularly. Never seems to bother her. The Izula 2 is always either around her neck or looped on her rear view mirror.

Thanks, the reason I ordered the sheath from Al Welke is it has two holes at the tip which might stabilize the unit against your chest. I'll have to give it a try.

Ryanol,

I'm REALLY liking the texture and colors on the handle of that first knife.
Cool Stuff !

I'd be amazed if I ever turned from folders

You don't have to you could mix it up one one day the other the next
obviously

I could see myself carrying just a small fixed, mostly at work.
I have been fooling around with the little "Super Edge" by Cold Steel. Mostly for size and handle (I'm not a fan of serrated but at least I have gone from absolute revulsion to having this one in my pocket.

I can flick off the sheath with my thumb and draw it out edge down every time (see registration notch I cut into top of sheath). I am thinking you could get the Izulu sheath to work the same way (one handed).

As far as daily carry fixed I would find the bottom knife in this photo very useful. it is a Cold Steel kitchen paring knife. Pretty close to my Grail if it was only CPM S110V and had a sheath I would just quit looking right there.
until that magic day . . .
(any body know of a plastic ~(acrylic/PVC ) sheath that works with the CSKPK ?

PS: I went looking for what to call that "plastic" sheath and ran into a discussion about them dulling blade edges. Argument number one for sticking with a folder = the sheath dulls the edge over time.
Hmmmm
I wanted the super edge for doggy persuasion on the bike path. I decided I couldn't pull and open my folder fast/easy enough one handed with my gloves on if the sweet little angel already had a hold of one of my arms (especially with a coat tail in the way) but I could with the super edge around my neck or affixed to the bike etc. Just a little taste across his jaw muscle ought to persuade him he has made a misstep.

I had just mentioned that as it was brought up as a possibility some had run into. I could definitely see the backup carry option, which seems like a great idea. Best of both worlds.

These two again today - such a great combo. As said above, I'd never carry just the Izula, but it pairs well with a large folder for EDC:

Great looking combo. I'd probably go for the same thing, if only the Endura was a 3.5" blade. And the Delica is a tad too small for a folder for my preference. Man, that Izula would go perfect with the Benchmade 550 I plan to be getting here soon enough.
