ESEE Junglas vs BUSSE Bushwacker mistress

That doesn'T seem too bad. Might go with a Busse. But after hearing all the great stuff from a Battle Mistress I'll probably want that over a Bushwacker. If i'm going to pay this much I better get what I want! Also seems Satin is the way to go! Do they make the regular versions in Satin sometimes? Because LE just seems crazy right now...

Right now I dont feel the Bushwacker as much as a Battle Mistress... my only option is the secondary market or hope they restart production of their model someday.

I sort of agree. I would rather have a 'other' Battle Mistress than the Bushwacker. I've been reading, it seems the Nuclear Meltdown Fusion Battle Mistress (NMFBM) is the most thickest and "bad ass" of them all.
Those hardcore Battle Mistresses are expensive. Often times $700 - $1,000.

So of course I would rather have a Nuclear Meltdown Fusion Battle Mistress for $1,000 but I can't be spending that type of money. The Bushwacker Battle Mistress is the lighest of all the BMs..
"The Bushwacker is the thinnest of ALL Battle Mistresses making it the best Mistress of all time for clearing brush and other duties where "light and fast"

As far as that machete, I'm sure it's a great foliage cutter, but the Busse could cut it in half using a vice and mallet. :D
ha, in reply to what I posted? I'm sure of it :p

DM, the reason given for overpriced satin, is the fact that after the heat treat the raw steel is very rough, and to send it down takes a lot of work. I don't have BWM LE, but people who do praise it as one of their favorite Busse blades. Another thing to consider that it is a lot similar to SHBM, which many consider the most comfortable and one of the best BM's around. The problem is that those mistresses can go up to a grand in price. So what you are getting is a very nice blade which is cheaper then the collector alternative.

For any satin busse prepare to spend a buck, then prepare to weep as its going to take you at least an hour to make that first whack. Then get ready for a huge grin.

There is an alternative to satin called Competition Finish. Some of them pop up on exchange, they were available on the show. On BWM its basically bead blasted raw INFI. Its more prone to rust but if you take care of it then it should be fine. You can also strip the coating yourself to expose the raw metal.

Another important thing to consider. BWM will be gone for good soon, replaced by Killa Zilla 2, and I guarantee you its going to be more expensive.

Edit: it's official http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=758544
"two weeks" can be tomorrow, or in a few years, but I think this time it means after the show.

They are discontinuing old models in favor of new ones, and thats not a dumb move, seeing how well they are doing. They are gonna offer three blades small medium and large. That means you can get a knife in the size you want when ever you want. There are rarely any design which is useless. Its like cars, I like 2002 Audi S8, but its no longer in production, instead they have the look at me how cool I am 2010 version which I don't like. Or maybe I like 1969 mustang fastback, well I'm going to have to pay a premium if I want a mint one, but then again I can just get a new version which sorta looks like the one I want.

In the past two month, they had not counting BWM and Boss street a Boss Jack Proto, Deset Storm Fighter, Team Gemini, Gladious, Killa Zilla 2, Basic 11. So you have choices. This is also the best time to buy on exchange as prices are very low, because soo many cool new blades came out.

Lol my credid card is going to hate you. ;) Do you know how heavy the BMW LE IS?

I have a Bwmle and it has the saber grind. I'm not exactly sure of the weight maybe about 22-ounces. It's .220 thick i believe, i've got Shbm's and the Bwmle is a really nice i think. Go to Busse combats website they have pic and specs. But i would'nt wait too long. Lexi at Busse just announced to get your order in because they were going to stop making them.

You were smart, I bought a tanker gray with G-10 handle and wished I'd have layed out the little extra for an LE. I have other stuff going on or I'd snatch one up but you know how that goes. Wallet says NO!

I'm also considering this as a purchase. Something in the middle of the LE and Combat.
Bussecollector also speaks about what 'Competition Finish' is.

The Busse Bushwacker Battle Mistress CF a Double Cut Bead Blast.

Finishes
BB: = Bead Blast. A matte steel finish produced by blasting the blade steel with various media (e.g. glass pellets, sand, etc.)

DC(BB): = Double Cut (Bead Blast), see BB above.

More prone to rust? I don't like the sound of that. Granted, I would take great care of my knife.

Bah, it will have to get in line after my own, I just bought $760 worth of Busse and Busse kin, just because it was a good deal.

Did I mentioned I'm biased?

Ekdrm2d1, INFI is not a true stainless steel, it is very resistant to rust, but not stainless. Satin one's are more resistant then DCBB.

Swing by the Busse subforum when you get a chance, and pretty soon you'd be posting pictures like that.

Joking aside thanks for all the tips, would of been hell trying to figure this out with some much information floating around! Thanks a lot guys! You are the best!

Edit : Wow that's an incredible crazy Busse collection that guy has =)! Amazing stuff!!!

Hey DM, and if you really want to feel good about the money you've spent, keep this in mind there is an LE #999 which means

Not counting the 4 posted in the picture and that #999, that Jaxx guy most likely has the rest of the 994 in his INFI warehouse.

Also while you are waiting check out this thread:

Nice thread! With so many Le's he's probably going to sell some down the road when they are probably worth 2-3 times the asking price! Smart move!

Just thought I'd let you know that the Junglas is a bad a** chopper. This pile was limbs that would scratch us when we got to close with the lawn tractor - took 15 minutes start to finish with picture taken! I've done this same work with a machete and it's much harder work. Blade it still paper shaving sharp. I have a couple shots of other stuff it cut as well. They're worth very dime and more - quite honestly.

Well you get the picture :D

I think the Busse would definitely be the more rugged of the two but the Junglas seems more than rugged enough to meet all my needs. I am not going to chop cinder blocks in half nor hammer my knife through another knife. :D

I love both brands. Either way you will get a quality product.

That's some nice chopping! Definitely a good performer! Will eventually get a Junglas eventually down the road, in the mean time I got today my new Izula, I notices you have one just next to the junglas on one picture! Wicked little blade!

thanks for the pics!
