ESEE Kukri?

I apologize if this has been covered before, I did a search and found a post from 2006 but it really didn't have much info. Has creating a kukri with the ESEE name ever been concidered? The blade length for being a machete when needed, plus the extra chopping power I think would be very useful in the upper states where we have lots of hardwoods.

Seems like it's been discussed but hell who knows.

Between the Junglas and the Lite Machete some would say the chopper department is covered, but kukris, parangs and goloks are kewl.

I know ESEE is about simple and useful, I think the kukri would fit that well. I love the idea of having a heavy duty chopping machete.

Buy a Cold Steel for around $30 or less and beat the crap out of it. I have used and abused mine for years and never even dinged the blade. Built lik a tank and hold an edge well. It's a bargain. I'm sure that ESEE would produce something much nicer but not for $30 or less. And besides, how nice does a blade have to be if you are going to beat the crap out of it! Just one man's opinion.
Cheers

A kukri from esse would be cool but I doubt it follows their philosophy and fit into their current lineup.

Tried to look up Wilson Combat, they had a good simple looking design on a Khukri - something like 16 inches overall. Looks like they don't make it anymore....

edit: anyone have one?
edit again: Found it, they don't make it, the photo is from an internet cache.

The CS khukri machete is absolutely awesome, in my opinion. But if ESEE made one, I would buy it.

for a production khukri, i'm fond of the Machax (duh), but i want to get my hands on an Extrema Ratio model (kopsis!), and/or one of the Zlatoust models, or a few others.

hands down though, the HI Bonecutter as made by Sgt Khadka is da bomb. i can't see that being beat easily. it can under good conditions, outchop a much larger hatchet/axe.

I would absolutely love to see an ESEE kukri but I don't think it will ever happen. From what I've read here on the forms Jeff Isn't too much into big choppers aside from having a machete which they already have covered.

But a differentially tempered 1095 or 5160 kuk in .333 with a sheath like the Junglas would have me drooling. On the market today there really isn't an alternative to the SK 5 Cold Steel kuk at the sub $200 price point unless you want to go with the traditional style HI type kukri which I'm not a fan of. I think ESEE could fill that niche in the market extremely well if they could make a kuk in the ~$200 range. Cold Steel owns that market and I believe ESEE could seriously out compete them with their warranty and BA looks.

In my experience nothing chops like a kukri, not even my waki or dogfather.

Come on Jeff, you know deep down that you love chopping the crap out of some wood even if its not the most ideal technique for survival :D

All I know is that ESEE, Swamp Rat or Scrap yard need to bring a kuk soon or I'm going to have to start saving for the zilla.

i've got two CS, one in Carbon V and one in stainless... and the stainless one if full flat V ground, not all sheetmetal. have a stainless Becker Reinheardt. don't have a K-Bar yet, but if ESEE made one, in 5160 or something with nice micarta and a good sheath i'd snatch one up!

While chopping might not be ideal a survival situation, sometimes it is needed. If everyone was face with ideal survival situations we really wouldn't need much of anything... l personally will be purchasing one in the future, I like the idea of a machete / chopper hybrid, it's a multifunctional survival tool. I just would like the ESEE name on it.

We've used and liked a few Kukris, but not enough that we would ever consider one part of our line.

well, the Becker Machax is making a comeback, perhaps by year's end, so keep an out. it should sell QUITE well :) devalue all those other silly Machaxen on the Market :) bwa hah hah...

Jeff, how about an ESEE katana or broad sword, like knights used to carry. Hatchets wouldnt have anything on the broadsword far as chopping. The katana would have one advantage though, it would be nicer to have to defend yourself in case you ever encounter a roaming hoard of midget ninjas (although either would probably work)
