ESEE Lite Machete

[...] the 18" Condor El Salvador- which is an EXCELLENT all-round machete. My money's on this guy (but in carbon):

I don't have a ton of experience with it yet, but based on what I've used in the past, is is pretty excellent  I have the carbon one too :)

Keep swinging it and you won't be scrawny for long!:D

Yeah I'm planning on taking both machetes and clearing some bamboo from my neighbor's back lot at some point. I'll try to get pics and video and post a full review of both blades. Not sure if here or WSS would be the best place for it. Both maybe? This will be after I've gotten freakishly sharp edges on both of them of course, and that might take a while on account of having more pressing matters to occupy my time.

Sounds awesome! I'd probably put it up in W&SS but post a link over this way, too. Should be some good stuff! Wish we had bamboo up this way.

Be careful what you wish for. Folks in my neighborhood can't get rid of the stuff. Takes over every damn thing. The only way I know for sure to kill it off is Roundup or some such, and my inner treehugger cries out at the though of using it. My uncle suggested getting a panda, but the local hardware store doesn't carry them.

It'd just give me an excuse to go swinging a machete around and not look like a lunatic. Who knows--you might even get paid to do it!:D

Yeah all the neighbors know what I'm after when I show up at their door with two foot knife in my hand. They're pretty understanding folks.

My dad asked me to find him bamboo to plant as a barrier (growing fence or boarder if you will). I didnt know where to look and thought ''there is no bamboo here in Ct." other than lucky bamboo at the Chinese store (with all those cool katanas and throwing stars:p). I took my daughter to the Beardsley Zoo (local small zoo) and wouldn’t you know, they have bamboo growing around the tropical animal section. I took a root and stalk from the ground stuck it in a water bottle, tough to pull root out, dense & thick also. So far it’s good to go, growing well in soil. Im glad to hear it does well and is a hearty durable plant, initially I had my doubts. I use my machete on dead partially fallen trees that are leaning on live trees. It is a workout for the hands and grip!!
