I finally bought an IZULA 2 to try out. I found a good second hand one for a reasonable price. It's only early days but I prefer my original one with scales so far.

Had time for an outdoors lunch today. Brought the Esee 4, Opinel 12 saw and the Firebox Nano to prepare things.

Opinel provides some clean pieces of pine

The Esee split it into thin pieces to feed the firebox

birchbark from my firekit helped catching a spark from the ferro rod.

First some water on for coffee

Splitting more wood waiting for the water to boil

Coffee ready

Then some eggs

And lunch is ready

Great time out. Resetting my mind...

Nice to hear you enjoyed the pics.
Grim enjoyed himself as this was his lunchbreak in the middle of his walk ... So running in the woods and food... What could possibly make a pup happier

Coating was flaking on my Esee 6, this bothered me a bit, so time to remove it completely.

Covered the knife in paint stripper

Wrapped it in plastic and waited 2 hours

Scraped it of

Good enough for now

Some timy spots of coating remaining, so wil repeat it at a later time

Maybe make the spine at a sharper 90 degree and apply a appelcider vinegar too while working on it

Looks a bit like mine. Seems like your original etching stayed in place better than mine did. I did not try to etch before I stripped it.

I did electro etch them a while ago.

Fill the base of the kettle with curls to get the fire going

Then light a featherstick with the ferrorod to us as a 'match' to light it all up.

Flame transferred

Vulcano mode, alway love the look of the flames shooting up

And coffee is ready after just a few minutes

His snack wasn't even finished

I wish they made an ESEE 4 with the blade thickness of a 3.

Man, this thread is giving me the itch. I have a few ESEE Izulas, and have had a Candiru at one point, but back when I was getting into affordable, yet bomb-proof fixed blades, I went the Becker route over ESEE, but these picture are making me want to pick up an ESEE 3 or 4. Not like I need more knives around, but you can never have too many slabs of American made 1095 goodness in your life, I tell you what.
