Lightly wiping those scales down with denatured alcohol will take some of the slickness away from the polished micarta. It will also knock down the gloss. I did it to my Esee 4 and have better purchase on the scales now.

I rinse the micarta under how water then pour a few drops of Dawn on them and scrub them with a toothbrush. Then rinse under hot water again. Does a great job of de-glossing and cleaning micarta.

Brought the Kelly Kettle and the Esee 5 while walking the dog.
Time for a coffee break. The Esee split some sticks and made some fine curls and feathersticks to get the fire going. Roughed up a piece of birch bark to ignite with my ferrorod.

Couple of minutes before things boil, enjoy the flames shooting out the chimney of the Kelly Kettle.

Today I cooked up a feral goat I shot a couple of weeks ago. I used one of my ESEE4s to prep the veggies. It turned out you beaut. It even impressed my older sisters.

I have used this ESEE 4 for a bit over a year now mainly skinning animals and some regular cutting tasks. I have stropped it once or twice. Today although not totally necessary, I am touching up the factory edge on 1000 grit stone ready for a hunt tomorrow morning. 1095 is perfectly fine for my lifestyle .

I went out to check cameras and see if there was any feral goat activity. A mob had moved into the area in the last couple of weeks.
