ESEE pictures and chat 👍🏻

About a year ago, I picked up an ESEE-3. It's a great knife, but I'm not a big fan of the coated blades, so a few days ago, I stripped the coating off, and did the "forced patina" thing, with a vinegar soaked paper towel. It left some strange patterns on the blade, but I suspect it will even out over time.

Some people might think I'm crazy, but that's OK. 🤣

Yep. Just a flat piece of leather (7/8 oz, I think), that I cut out, and punched some holes in. Here it is before I dyed it, and added the keeper strap.

I also tried my hand at making a leather sheath for it. This one is functional, but ugly. I made a couple more which turned out a little better, but there is definitely a learning curve to leather craft.

Beautiful job!!!!

On all of it.....Blade....&....Leather......

Looks great👌

I decided to buy an Esee 5. I went for the neon green to brighten things up. I thought hard about the Kabar Becker Bk2. But, to get it upgraded to the level of the Esee would add at least $120 to the cost (handles and sheath), which puts it way more expensive than the Esee 5. The Esee 5 already has G10 handles and a kydex sheath.

This weekend I headed up north with an old mate and hunted goats. I took my Laser Strike and it performed well

A local Spring had started running. Only for the second time in my lifetime.

After skinning skull caps for mounting my blade dulled a bit and it gained a few scratches to give it a bit of character.

Nuthin like the MESS of SUCCESS.....👌

Im about 12 or 13 years late to the party but today I bought a second hand Laser Strike. I have avoided it because I've always thought it was ugly as a bag of spanners. After actually handling it im very impressed. Im going to take it on a four day goat hunt next week and put it to work.

The Laser strike doesn’t look all that special but it is by far my favorite of the “big” ESEE knives. Between the LS, 4, 5, or 6, I’ll take the LS every time. It’s the knife I keep in my get home bag. I have a Candiru piggybacked on the LS sheath as well. Great combo. I hope you like yours!

My current hoard of Izula fixies. I pocket carry the s35vn (without the scales) daily, the s35vn with scales is in my sling bag (aka man purse) that goes wherever I go. The unopened black one is a “just in case” that I keep in the gun safe. The one that’s beat all to hell lives a horrible existence in my garage getting a lot of stupid abuse.
