Curious about the folded piece of sheet metal; is that your whistle/call?
Its an aussie classic, the Tenterfield whistle.
Do a youtube search there will be heaps of videos on how to make and use them. My dad showed me how to make and use them and my son is just picking it up now.

This is my third stainless Izula, I’ve grown really fond of ESEE’s s35vn. My wife has not grown fond of my growing fondness of ESEE’s s35vn. Come to think of it, she wasn’t fond of all the other ESEE purchases either 😂.

I usually shy away from serrations. i’ve been testing them out and they are actually really great!
Particularly for wood work which was a huge reason i stayed away from them. They out cut my plain edge knives (deeper faster into wood) and make some super nice curls! I realized wood is made of fibers and that is what serrations excel at.
It might not work out so well with hardwoods but they are tough to cut regardless.

Eta: obviously it won’t look as pretty as a cut from a plain edge so that is one thing. Also, i won’t trade in my plain edges for serrated but i won’t not acquire a knife just because it has serrations now.

I headed out today fully intending to shoot a fox but I bumped into a mob of feral goats.

Goat always beats fox so even though I only had subsonic 22 ammo I went after them. In my hurry to get out of my ute I left my ESEE-4 in the glove box.

Luckily the little Candiru was in my pocket

Its a handy little knife that can do big jobs.

So no foxes today but plenty of goat meat in the fridge and a new rug for the floor.
