ESEE poor F&F?

I've seen nothing but perfect fit & finish from Rowen. The only thing not fitting here is that you can get four knives in a row with scale issues:confused:

Great, the ESEE rabid rats are back on bladeforums, I guess the dedicated forums got stagnant.

Honestly, who the hell cares if some random guy makes a small f&f claim. Let him speak his mind and move on.

'fourth knife in and the scales on my 6 are far from fluch. Yes, it is an ESEE. Honestly im not complaining. I really dont care, but i figured you guys would get a kick out of it.'

I forgot to mention that all of my others are insanely top notch fit!!!

Clearly he is a fan, get over yourselves.

The interesting thing about all this is that even after perceived or real abuse, ESEE will repair or replace the knife free of charge. That is great customer service.

Who cares if he is a fan of esee? The knife being esee is a coincidence. The issue here is his clear lack of culpability for anything that happens to the knife.

Say you place a oxy/acetylene torch on your spyderco. It melts in half. Is that poor fit and finish?

OP, batoning the scales then claiming poor fit and finish is silly.

However...

To some of the fanboys it is silly to say everything from Rowen is fantastic. I have a newly aquired RSK2 from Rowen and the grind is off alot to one side. No biggie, Ill reprofile it and the gents on the Becker forum offered to replace it but its not that big of an issue to me. No company doesnt pump out a few stinkers, its their response to it that matters. And Ritter/Rowen responded greatly.

I guess that since ESEE no longer has a forum here, we can't still post here from time to time? Not that this place has much going for it lately. It's sad really.

I don't think anyone is saying that. Nobody is perfect, even Rowen. Though they do have excellent customer service second to none.

What are you refering to?

Obviously it has poor fit and finish! It no longer fits together at all and the finish would be all black and burnt. But it would take a VERY special person indeed to attribute this fit and finish to the MANUFACTURER;)

This whole thread is hilarious! The whole thing is a joke right?:D

It might be just that I don't explore outside of GKD, but the topics are almost always the same, over and over again. And I freaking hate vBulletin with a passion. Not that I don't frequent other forums that use vB, but BF just needs something more.

Well, BFC has been around since 1998, and it's the largest forum of its kind. They have to be doing something right. It's not about being flashy or gimmicky, it's about sharing discussions, information, communicating with manufacturers and the comradery. Not everyone has the same passion for knives or knife making, but that is what it's about. Most forum software is a mixed bag, some have better features than others. I asked what you meant because it seemed like you were implying that BFC sucked or something.

Interesting. I have several ESEE knives and have never seen or experienced the OP issues. On the other hand they are cheap knives on a monetary level so if you did get one that has bad F&F then who cares. The knife still functions perfectly backed with the best warranty.

You did read the thread right? The OP batoned with his knife and f#!ked up the handle scales and is trying to claim the knife came to him like that. It's not a small F&F claim if he was the culprit.

Say what you will about fanboys, take any knife company out there and if it were the same scenario he would still get called out on his idiocy.

I can't for the life of me see where the OP mentioned anything about batoning or beating the shite out of his knife. Anyone?

Edit: I finally found the link posted by CrimsonTideShooter and this is now an utter waste of space except for a laugh! :D

hey guys I was just wondering if its normanl for the esee handle scales to shift a little when being pounded on with a baton. I imagine that this would occure no matter how tight that it was bolted down. (I did however tighten the hex screws as tight as they would go)

fourth knife in and the scales on my 6 are far from fluch. Yes, it is an ESEE. Honestly im not complaining. I really dont care, but i figured you guys would get a kick out of it.

you complain about F&F issues when you yourself caused the scales to shift? your word has lost all value to me.

I love ESEE knives. I HATE the rabid fanboy culture around them, and I don't particulary care for jeff. However, its ok because this is a forum about knives not their owners or their fans. Can you see the difference?

Why do I hate the fanboy culture? Honestly I think its used to censor even basic criticism. Anyone who says anything the pack doesn't like gets mobbed and shouted down. That way nobody ever bothers to post anything negative. Dave, your posts have never been intentionally inflammatory towards other posters, instead you keep a level head and try to address the issue. Most other however, do not care take your lead.

The General Forum is where most new folks start posting. New folks do tend to ask the same set common questions (if you could only have one knife, What's the best steel, I need the world's toughest knife, et. al.) So, yes, there is a fair amount of repetition in the General Forum thread topics.

Try branching out into the subforums. For instance, there's lots of interesting posts in the Wilderness and Survival Forum. I don't post there much, but I do go there to read.

Judging BF by the content of the General Forum is like "judging a book by its cover".
