Just saw the news, and A2 knife is out first (still not available in Europe).

MagnaCut is soon to follow.

Do you think A2 will replace 1095 on most smaller models? Or possibly on all models?
Do you think MagnaCut will fully replace S35VN?

I really like carbon steels and I wanted to try out A2 for a long time (ever since Cold Steel announced it and then never delivered it). So as much as I'm not interested in ESEE at the moment - I can see myself buying one. Unless it'll cost arm and leg (1095 ESEE3 costs 220€ here). So, yeah, I'll buy one if the price is at least somewhat reasonable.

As for MagnaCut... I'm not gonna buy MagnaCut ESEE.

I don't think I'll buy MagnaCut any time soon. Reason is simple. It's spreading everywhere and it's here to stay, so I'm not in a rush. I can see MagnaCut replacing several steels in the future (S30V, S35VN, S45VN, CPM-3V, Cruwear...) so I'll just wait for price drop. And I got 3V at the moment, so I'm happy with that.

What are your thoughts?

No way will MC replace 3V, they are for different uses.... and I pray to God that Cruwear lasts, as many like it Better.

kinda surprised by their choice of A2?
I can think of better steels for BEATERS

I've seen some knives that used to be in 3V get switched to MC, but right now I can't remember which ones even if you beat me... and I also hope CruWear stays long.

According to what I read - A2 seems to be a bit tougher and bit more wear resistant than 1095 , and also with some corrosion resistance. So it should be good in theory.

I can't imagine A2 adding very much more to the finished cost. I mean the penny-pinching, corner-cutting company that shall not be named made it their bread and butter steel for a long time.

If I were using A2, I'd not want them painted.
Which means they will have to spend more on finishing.....

I know That's funny, coming from somebody like me! 😅

A2s cheap I think? Crap you'd know lol

From our supporter here, AKS lists A2 as almost exactly double the cost of 1095 for a Knife size steel.

Admittedly, A2 isn't Expensive, but like I said, I'd expect a nicer finish than Paint.
That would add to the cost more, too.

*Edit I like A2, it's a nice, slicely sharp steel. Easy to sharpen.

They'd still coat them, wouldn't they? That's become part of their identity.

To your point, if they didn't, They'd have to figure out a finish. But I don't think A2 finishes hard. It takes a pretty nice satin belt finish.

Haha, painting A2 would make me question my existence. Idk why anyone would do That..... I'll laugh Sooooo Hard. :D
