ESEE vs Becker Cage Match Final Round

This has convinced me to get my little brother a BK2 to replace the horrid S&W knife he's got for when we go outdoors. I love him to death, but there's no way he's worth a 5:p . He's been eying my 6 for several months now anyway, so that might prevent him from swapping knives on me when I'm not looking.

Thanks for finishing. I was also expecting something to break. I knew both were good, now I have even more respect for both. Great post, but hard to watch.

Why would you do that? Hard to watch good knives being torn up like that...

Thanks for posting that:cool::thumbup:

I'm already a proud owner of both, and this is how I though it would end. I am curious about what it would take to split one with the other. Heavy duty hydrolic press? Head on collision at massive speeds? 8,000 pounds of weight? More power than a mere mortal can apply, without serious leverage.

Oh man the BK2 and the Esse 5 were doing battle so hard that they fell in love with each other and started polishing each other! (that's my explanation and im sticking to it. :p)

I have a 4 and 6... I guess I should get a 5. It could come in handy on those late fabrication nights when all my sawzall blades bend or break. :D

This is basically like George Foreman and Mike Tyson both in their prime trading blows, there really is no winner. Fun to watch, but horribly painful at the same time.

Well, I figured they wouldn't completely fail as it work take an awful lot of cycling to get them to fracture. Eventually, I would expect to see a rapid failure in which one of the knives. All you have proven is that you got tired long before 2 pounds of 1095 did!

Mr. Gannon

Thank you for this awesome spectical. Despite the fact I have (and love) a bk2 and other ESEE knifes this pretty much put me in line for a 5 just on general principle.

Also thank you for being selfless with your funds to the degree that now a very lucky few in our armed forces will be gifted with blades from both of these fine companies!

My hat if off to you sir, good show.:thumbup:

well i have to say that this set of vids has made one huge choice for me, not what brand to pick but what steel to pic, looks like im going to say screw all the magic metals out there, give me 1095

Well done for taking it all the way TAG.

Possibly one of the best marketing events Ive seen...

And full points for admiting you were wrong on the BK2.

dude, that was pretty damn cool! ty for you time, energy and sacrifice of 2 great blades.

Only one that I know of in 30yrs of it being made. I know its the first that Kabar has seen. Throwing it, broke it.

Moose

ETA Kabar warranty replaced it.

Throwing it at what? A steam Locomotive? Damn.

So...what happens if you use a sharp part of the blade instead of the blunt notch to cut ?

I hope this converted a lot of people into the 1095 camp. Thanks for your thoughts.

Thank you. It made sense to me to go for it. Glad it went over so well.

I had a blast. Thank you.

Maybe if I kept attacking the BK-2 with a fresh part of the ESEE edge, it would have cut an itsy bitsy little deeper, but that is cheating. That is also why I chose to use the same general proximity of the blade on each knife. Right in the sweet spot.

Dammit, now you got my son back on the 5 trip after having him convinced the 4 I gave him for Christmas was all he would ever need. Thanks alot :thumbdn: I will admit to enjoying the show.
